I've been learning to play golf for the last two years, and I'm finally at a point when I can enjoy a round. I've focused 75% of my effort on my irons, and most of the rest on my driver, just so I can start to get round a course without holding others up, so my short game is dreadful, but I'm loving it. This is the first tournament I've watched much of since learning to play, and I appreciate it so much more. I don't really know the characters yet, beyond McIlroy who seems very likable, but it was nice to see a young Brit win - some of his shots on the last 9 were incredible. Felt very sorry for Zalatoris at the end. Not sure I'll ever go out of my way to watch golf like I do for the football and F1, but it's great to have on in the background. Bit like the cricket for me.
Only played it a few times & just not suited to it & hit the ball like I’m playing cricket Lol gave it up as a bad hobby
You know your getting serious when you can go around without three putting.
In most cases, you need to be playing at least once a week to get there.
I got down to single figures handicap but would not get anywhere near that nowadays.
Regardless of how you hit it, enjoy the company and being outdoors.
I use to tell my brother ( he was too serious ) .... if you play well, thats a bonus.
I play with a neighbour who goes round the whole course muttering "driving for show, putting for dough".
Tried to find a recent golf thread, but this is all I could come up with. Some funny stuff, though.
