Went to the Frampton on Severn country show yesterday. Wow the place was rammed with people -however there was a minutes silence to start and finish the guns were set off. Horses and Dogs were spooked. There were thousands and thousands all went quiet- all i could here were people sobbing never experienced that anywhere in my lifetime. The queen was clearly loved by so many. I had a job to control my feelings but i definitely had eyes that were welling up thank goodness i had sunglasses on.
This is the first monarch to have been followed so closely since pre coronation. I seldom go to bed before 0430 and watch a number of catch up programmes. On 1 channel [ didnt watch more than a minute or so as renewed programme to watch] there was a series of films [news etc] of E11R .. it went on for over 8 or more hours. previous Monarch's have had some film taken, albeit grainy BW going back to early 1900's, now with video for the masses I wonder how many million hours of E11R are there! professional and amatuer?
YEP IT WENT DOWN.. the site not the plane I dont use that but signed up for it as they give monthly reports on events via e mail. My site followed down to landing and then could follow via media helicopter/s .... and tie in various streams on the ground
Simon, it's nice to hear some truth, I'm a bit hard hearted but I also had some sad moments, I'm still a bit fazed. She was totally true to her word and devoted to her family and that means a lot.
Lumps in the throat moments have been quite plentiful .............. not many will see her coronation and her laying to rest .........
went to liverpool cathedral yesterday - the wife wanted to sign the book of remembrance, and i was stunned at the peace and quiet just the echo of whispers and the shuffle of feet, even groups off scouse school kids seemed pick up on the mood and were reverant and quiet.
I do not think we will [ I wont for sure! ] see a funeral like that ever again. It was a set of unique circumstances that brought about E11R. 2.2 miles from Westminster To Wellington, wow what a long walk, especially at a slow march CROWDS were massive, then a route to Windsor, not shortest, about 24 miles with crowds on most of it [ 23 miles ] a line either side would be around 247, 000 and most places more than 6 deep in Windsor on the long walk about 40 deep thats more than a mile [250,000] in all from Wellington to Windsor 2,000,000? over 3,000,000+ in total? A FANTASYIC TURN OUT FOR A TRULY FANTASTIC WOMAN
Great lady, terrific sense of duty, respected by the world and we did her proud, she deserves and got the love of the world. RIP you kept your promise...
I saw this reported "The BBC is reporting that 5.1 billion people watched the funeral, that’s roughly 63.2% of the worlds population and the largest single event watched or streamed in history..."
