As ive got older ive become more and more intrigued by UFOs. I really hope in my lifetime we can confirm for sure they exist

They exist alright mate. In the sixties I was living in an old flat (I’ve already posted about an experience at the flat I had when I first moved in) which looked onto the Shields/Newcastle railway line, and beyond that to the river Tyne. I’d got myself a dog and on the night in question she got me out of bed around 1-2 am to let her into the yard for a pee. It was winter and a clear, freezing cold morning. As I waited for her to finish up I admired the stars, bright against an inky black sky. Then I was chuffed to see what I thought was a shooting star. It started in the west and performed a wide loop to the east and Disappeared below the horizon. It then re-appeared performing another loop to the east and disappeared again below the horizon. It then re-appeared again, but this time it travelled in a loop towards me. As it got closer (which took fractions of a second) it took on the classic flying saucer shape. It had a soft silvery glow, something similar to the moon. The slightly flattened dome had little smudges around it, which I took to be windows or portholes - just my guess - and underneath, this is difficult to describe, as it banked slightly, I could see the silvery bottom of the rim part, then a hollow and in this hollow what appeared to be an extension of the dome. I took all this in, in a matter of seconds. Then it just shot off to the east and out of sight in, literally, a fraction of a fraction of a second. The suddenness and speed of the change of direction was just incredible. I’ll never forget it.

Me Mam passed away in 2011 and not long after me and the mrs were sat in the front room and she said me mam was with me.
Joking I started looking round the room saying I couldn't see her.
Mrs wasn't impressed and I said "my mother was so strong willed, she would show me a sign that she was there.
I went to the back door for a tab and laughing about it.
Two globe lights in the garden,
One had never worked from new for months suddenly turned on.

I dismissed it as coincidence.
A still night in summer, no wind.
Two tennis racquets flew off a table on the patio and across the grass.
Still not convinced, but the mrs telling me it was a sign lol.
The next day I picked me dad up from the pub and took him home.
Dropped him off and went.
He rang me the following day.
Asked me if I'd messed with me mams phone, her mobile that was still on the mantelpiece.
I telt him I'd just dropped him off and drove away and didn't go on the house.
He asked if me kids had and I said "dad the kids weren't with me, why do you ask" ?
He said he'd had a missed call off my mam on his mobile from her mobile just after the time I'd dropped him off and he went straight to bed.

As a church going fella I'd be expected to reject any paranormal malarkey. But me and Mrs Smug had a truly weird experience when working in Provence that shook us and is something we'll never forget.

To cut it as short as possible. We're having a day off exploring the remote countryside and on a deserted country road around 12am. We'd just been deep in the woods looking at a strange deserted troglodyte monastery. It wasn't a tourist attraction, one of the local shepherds had mentioned it and scrawled out directions.

I heard the plaintive English voice of a young girl saying 'Please help me' from the roadside, clear as could be. There was no one there and Mrs Smug didn't react. Without alerting her I checked my mobile and car radio, neither were on. I didn't want to concern her, or have her think i was losing it, so didn't mention it. After a few minutes we parked up for our picnic and I noticed she was quiet. I asked if she was OK and she said 'please don't think I'm going mad but, a while back, I heard someone shouting for help'.

I told her I'd heard the same so we left the picnic stuff, leapt into the car and scoured the lane over and over. We shouted and shouted but there was no one there so we eventually gave up and went back to our picnic site. When we arrived we stood there in total silence, the sandwiches all had little human bitemarks and just the crusts left. The water bottles had been opened, drunk from and the tops replaced, none of the wine was touched.

We packed everything up, left the rest of the food and went home ...

... we occasionally mention it but still don't understand what happened.

Isn't the Christian church mainly based off the paranormal malarkey of a Palestinian fella named Jesus?

The catholic and church of England are both based on the pagan religion that was vogue in the times of the Roman Empire. Probably the closest you’ll find to the teachings of Jesus is in independent chapels. Whethet or not you accept them is down to personal choice.

I know nothing of the paganism you speak of. Not doubting you, just curious as to what you're referring to.

I know there are big similarities in the timing of the festivals of Christianity and paganism. Ostara and Easter. Christmas and Yule. Even between Jesus on the cross and Odin hanging himself from the tree With a spear in his side.

But to say the religion is based on paganism isn't something I know of.

I thought it was essentially the old Hebrew learning of the old testament updated with the appearance of Jesus. Admittedly with allowances made to make it more palatable to convert the pagans in Rome, Scandinavia, the UK etc.

To my understanding, the paganism of the Druids, the Norse and the Romans/Greeks is polytheism and it couldn't be a great deal more different from Christianity.

He's referring to Mithraism. A male only cult, usually associated with the Roman military. There are numerous similarities between the stories of Mithras and Christ. The major difference being that we know for a fact that Jesus Christ was a real person, whereas Mithras probably wasn't.

Some excellent knowledge of religion on this thread. I've been to Rome twice and it's magnificent. The Pantheon, St Peters, Colosseum, Trevi fountain etc. All stunning. Can't wait to go back tbh.

Never seen any ghosts though.

Ghosts, Flying Saucers, The Loch Ness Monster, they all have one thing in common.

It only need ONE person to be right, and the whole case for them is proven.

Personaly I keep an open mind with a tinge of sceptisism.
