another bloody thread where you scroll down and it's just "my mate was pissed and he got talking to this brickie down the Crown who did the walls outide the KC.." bla bla bla...

Why would Ghilas take a pay-cut?

it wouldn't help him get in the team, he can only do that on PERFORMANCES

He's certainly a young un when compared to me.

Pearson: I know you have another year to run on your contract and it's worth over £800k, but would you mind if we only paid you about £400k?

Ghilas: Okay then.

Pearson: Thanks Kamel, I'll tell everyone what a nice bloke you are.

Now I think about it, it does sound plausible. :emoticon-0120-doh:

Probably Ghilas didn't understood what Pearson was saying and agreed :1980_boogie_down:

Err, think you've just made all that up yourself mate, and it wasnt very funny. How can he prove himself on performances when he cant even get in the reserve team sqaud?

Didn't Ghilas have a lot of issues due to his religious beliefs conflicting with training and whatever diet they have to follow?

I havent heard that one to be honest mate, but I dont think it's a bad shout, I heard him Folan and a few others were training with the youth team at one point? thats all i know about training and all that.

Lost in translation. Whilst it would be a major surprise and shock to us all, never discount anything. Being honest
who on here thought Zayette would rip his contract up and go with nothing ? We not both Ghilas and Zayette mates
before at Hull City ? Just a thought.

If Ghilas had another club lined up and wanted to tear up his contract to make sure he could move there without a fee, as Zayatte did, then I'm sure we'd welcome it.

But he had a **** season last season, I doubt there's a queue for services and there's absolutely no way he'd take a pay cut under those circumstances. This story is utter bollocks, in fact it's not even a story, it's just 'my mate saw it on a forum' football-rumours.com type nonsense.

Woah, I never said once that i thought this story was true, just thought I would let you all know see what you thought. No need to get all big headed now is there.

Sorry CityCalv, I wasn't taking a pop at you, I was just trying to point out to The FRENCH TICKLER that this story is bollocks, as he seems determined to try and give it some credence.

Just a thought, but weren't Arles paying half his wages last season? Is it possible the original story is to do with City paying him £400k last year rather than him agreeing that's all he'd get paid this year?

And another small point, the footymad list (I assume that's the one I made my spreadsheet from) has him as a 2013 contract so it's 2 years worth of it he'd be agreeing to halve. Makes it even less likely really.

100 correct and spot. After the Bolton game Ghilas needed this time and Phil Brown told him to do one. END OF GHILAS.

Rubbish. Ghilas struggled for a little while around Ramadan because fasting and training hard don't really go together. Phil Brown explained all that at the time and Ghilas came back into the fold once he recovered. Ghilas isn't good enough. That's the story. There's no pointing the finger at PB or ID or NP. There's no "didn't get a chance" or any of that bollocks. He trained every day, he played for the stiffs and for the first team. He wasn't good enough. Third class teams in France and Portugal aren't even queuing up to buy him.

The pay-cut story seems unlikely but if you want motivation, it's about the only thing he could do to convince a manager he wants to play football. His workrate won't.

Costing us half last season, rather than him being paid half, makes far more sense.

I think this is just a made up rumour however...
Has he done a Kilbane? Extend his contract by another year but drops wage, gives him a season to prove himself to get a better deal either here or elsewhere, rather then get shipped to another no-body team for a year and uproot family.
On the diet thing, there are many excellent Muslim athletes, they simple eat and drink well before sun rise, and train sensibly during the day. After sun down they load up on there food. Generally they fast for 28 days (a lunar cycle starts and ends Ramadam) usually around Oct/Nov time. Easy solution is to do CV work early in morning, and play evening matches (either in league or reserves) to maintain match fitness.

However, that been said, doubt he has a future at the club

If he did that he'd have another 4 years with us as the original date (the one that I adjust when I see extensions have been signed) still gives him 2 years.

was the boy that bad?

i remember him playing against chelsea an showed some good skill... even hit the bar if i remember correctly.
