Ah the memories
My ex-boss, the Sheikh, bought a massive apartment in a converted Victorian sanitorium near Wandsworth nick. It had belonged to Duran Duran out of interest. I had to get it renovated, painted, new bathrooms etc, so would spend weekends there with Mrs Smug liaising with the builders, etc.
We'd go to various pubs near the prison for a bit of food and a pint. Some of them were full of prison visitors, off duty screws, newly released 'lifers', locals, lost tourists and journalists. Occasionally there'd be a big wake, release party or, even better, a 'lifer' coming out to meet the bride, he'd agree to marry, for the first time
Had a decent look at this last night at work. I could book a double hotel room at Premier Inn for a decent price but the cancellation only ran until April. Might just have to wait till around Xmas time to book so that the cancellation lasts until the end of May
The hotels/pubs/restaurants will be desperate for Sunderland and Boro to be there, loads staying over ...
