Gervinho

Well the other issue is not just that we need someone to play alongside RVP it's that the Dutchman is soo injury prone we need someone who can replace him when he's not playing.
(which is about 50% of the time)

Basically we need a striker of roughly equal quality to RvP.

Neymar is a kid, who needs some time.
Falcao has looked good at a lower level. Very highly rated, and probably out of our price range.
Benzema has a bad attitude and would be a disaster for us. He may even be in the clink before the season starts
Higuain Is under contract to 2016. Very expensive I would think.

I don't think any of those players would fit in at Arsenal.

I think our striker options next year will be:

RVP
Chamakh
Gervinho
Vela - one more chance. His attitude is his problem, not his talent.
Walcott - I am sure Wenger will move him up front, as he clearly is not a winger.

Sigh.

RVP - Is great, I'm a big fan although he averages about half a season for us. (27 apps) So he Cannot be relied upon.
Gervinho - Like I've said before I dont think he's of the required standard. He's no better than Bendtner.
Chamakh - There's a reason he was played on the RIGHT for Bordeaux. He's not a goalscorer.
Carlos Vela - He couldnt get into the West Brom line up. There's no way he'll make it in England. He's another Aliadiere.

I think Benzema would be fantastic for us. He's 6'1 strong, aggressive and ready made for the Premierleague. (he would also complement RVP perfectly) He's exactly the kind of player Wenger would get the best out of.

However I do agree with you on Eto'o so I guess that's something. :P

People are happy with Gervinho because he scored 15 goals last season.

Bendtner playing a full season would score more than 15 I'd wager. He scored 15 in all comps a coupla years ago coming off the bench all the time. He's just not able to play on the wings sadly.

By 'we' you mean... 'you'.

Wiltord

I could go on...

Footballers, most of them are young, many of them (like Benzema) are from poor backgrounds and suddenly find themselves earning an incredible amount of money. So yes they do stupid things.

Wether we sign him or not Karim Benzema is Top Class.

Yeah I agree.
I'm not a big fan of the Dane but he's at least as good as Gervinho.

i appreciate they're totally different players.

i just find it funny that Arsenal have a player capable of 15 goals a season, but he's viewed as rubbish, while another player, also capable of 15 a season, is brilliant.

stats don't tell the whole story, and their positions are different. but some fans see foreign players through very rose-tinted glasses.

It's one thing to deal with issues as they arise within the club, but to sign a player of questionable character (to say the least) would be stupid.

As for gervinho, the goal scoring numbers alone do not make the player. Even if he had only scored 15 goals a season, to compare gervinho to bendtner shows a complete lack of football knowledge. They have completely different styles.

Benzema is a pointless discussion. He will not be signed. He'll be busy with the police.

RvP had much more questionable behaviour than Benzema when he was signed and look how he turned out.
