The way you lot talk about the gap in finances between Celtic and Rangers suggests we'd may as well not bother trying to compete with Man City...
 
look rangers and celtic are ****.

one has cl money to spend.

the other has years of mismanagement, cuts and buy I g to get through **** leagues to get to their prem.

Gerrard needs 8 players min... he's got season ticket money so... where do we think he is getting them?

Don't care where they got their players from, we're not talking about Gerrard manager the last couple of seasons are we?

He's got a very big job on his hands but finances didn't have to be everything. A quality functioning team can be better.

Ask Fergie and Man Utd fans who had the better squad between them and Chelsea!

Times have changed though particularly since Neymar's transfer.

Liverpool can at least shop in that 2nd tier of the market full of potentially world class players that man city and co arent willing to take a chance on e.g Salah. Celtic generally shop in the 3rd tier of players where there's fewer hidden gems, and rangers currently aren't even shopping in that tier yet.

Also whereas Liverpool can beat off competition from most clubs for a signing, Rangers aren't even competing with PL relegation Fodder in the market - potential stars would rather play in the PL even for huddersfield or brighton than in the SPL. Realistically rangers are competing with championship sides for players, while celtic can dangle the possibility of CL football to potential signings to ward off most PL clubs.

And Celtic aren't signing first, second or third tier players either.
 
Celtic and rangers might be in the same league but the current rangers set up are a joke of a club.

A valid curent comparison in terms of the gao would newcastle and sunderland.

I think Gerrard as been s bit silly taking this job but I don't think it's as bad as people are making out.

Our he fails, so what? Most top managers have a disaster on their early record.

If he succeeds, fantastic.

He's got a massive job on his hand to even get near Celtic never mind overhaul them.

But he doesn't need to beat Celtic, it's a 38 game league and Celtic is just for our them. There are another 102pts to play for.

Celtic are on 78pts with three games to go; maximum of 87pts.

A 90% win rate against the rest of the league is a massive target but the league is **** so it's not impossible either.

Note I said they don't have to beat Celtic, I didn't say they could afford to lose all four!

Comparing the Glazers to Dave King is like comparing a one bedroom bungalow to the Empire State Building.
King is currently skint and trying to raise £11m he owes for breaking takeover rules by selling part shares to the gullible Rangers fans.
