Is he any good?

Watched him the last couple of seasons when playing Swansea and I would say no, if I'm honest.

When I say that, I mean not good enough for the premier league at least. He didn’t do much in the games I saw him live to think he'd get to his brothers level.

But then, he is still young and raw and could easily improve.

Not getting much of a game at Dortmund mind.

There’s always a bit of agg there. Just one of those fan bases who like to be ****s and have a chip on their shoulder about being a big club when they’ve done less than **** all for decades. Went up there when I was 17 and a jobsworth steward wouldn’t let me in with my kid’s ticket so had to pay £20 I didn’t really have at the time.

We got promoted there 20 years ago and they didn’t let in the guy who writes the fanzine and doesn’t miss a game while living 200 miles from London simply because they knew it was a big day for us and they fancied being knobs about it. During the game they put live updates on the scoreboard of Bristol City’s game, whose result we needed to match.

Stupid ****ing tram from the city. Never seem to have an issue at Sheff U regardless of the result.

We played then in a league cup semi final at Old Trafford, early/mid 90's or thereabouts, and they took up the whole end opposite as it was a cup game.

For some mad reason, they were all stood up giving it the plane and singing Munich songs.

The stewards let them out at the final whistle, and there was a welcome commitee outside at the old main concourse.

Was great, everyone leaving got a good shoeing and the police watched.

Good times, pre all this woke nonsense.

I remember a home game in the seventies before we got the new Rookery stand

The old stand had a wire fence separating the Watford fans from the visitors, halfway through the second half and were winning comfortably when the entire stadium went quiet, two Wednesday supporters had got into the roof and were climbing over the fence and when both were together they dived head first into the Watford supporters

Never did find out what happened to them

They also used to play that cringe version of Thompson Twins, You Take me Up pre match, so they deserve to go out of business just for that.

"We are the Owls, oh oh, we are the Owls, of Sheffield.
We are the Owls, of Sheffield, Sheffield Wednesday.

Yeah, dreadful.

I just sense with him there’s a bit of nepotism at play tbh

By some distance the best indicator of whether a kid is going to be good enough for elite level sport is if his dad played that sport at the level. This is along the same lines so they’ve taken a punt partly based on what he’s achieved, age, stats etc. but his value goes up because there’s a blueprint of sorts for them to work with so it’s more of a sure thing he becomes a top player than someone with all the same attributes but a different surname. Potentially great, probably won’t be but they’re playing the percentages.

Boring but basically explains it.

Yeah, I think he’s underrated.

He was our best player last season and we missed him whenever he wasn’t available. He’s got it all. Pace, power, height, box to box, can score goals.

I thought Dortmund was the wrong move for him and it’s starting to look like he’s made a mistake moving out there.

One of my cousins (female) was a copper back in the early 2000s - Wednesday always, as I recall, designated a 'Category C' fixture from the police perspective I.e. highest level for potential crowd problems ...

I also remember them back in the early / mid 80s ... always travelled in big numbers and frequent home section infiltrators...
