I've been howling for over six years now that Oliver is the Emperor's New Clothes. He was the ref when Prickford assaulted Virgil, and he had to admit a few months later that he didn't actually know the procedure for Serious Foul Play (a bit like three-quarters of this board at the time, if memory serves me right). My piss boils every time some jerk of a commentator labels him 'The best young referee in the league' when he officiates of a game - a ludicrously overblown and undeserved reputation. And he was ****ing appalling in the last two international tournaments that he represented England in as well.
The problem today though is the epitome of the incident I quoted above (and yes, before anyone chips in, I know he's made ****-ups in our favour as well) in that there is no point having VAR if they're always too terrified by his reputation to challenge him. Outrageous decision today, and you deserved your win.
