It’s all on Southgate. He’s too friendly with some players and won’t make the big decisions that need made. Kane shouldn’t be in the team, we need a forward that’s going to stretch the defence to allow the midfielders more time and space which will bring them into play.

Absolutely! It's awful it doesn't work and he's out there blaming the environment.

The guy is an idiot. He’s had the cheek to question the fans last night. The support during the game was brilliant, it was far better than they’ve deserved so far. His selections and tactics have been terrible, everything is to slow and ponderous.

Going in on the matchgoing fans who have always been very supportive considering how **** he is at his job never ends well.

Kane doesn’t look at all fit. He was taking injections to get through Bayern games towards the end of the season. No doubt he insisted on playing as he did when injured at Spurs but he’s got Watkins there, fit and off the back of a great season. He’s shoehorned Foden in when he could have gone with Gordon for pace and work rate or Eze for his form and potential to do something out of nothing.

But the defence looks good even if Trippier offers nothing going forwards.

Sadly I think the only reason the defence has looked okay is because it hasn’t faced a decent front line yet

I’d have thought our best hope would be using attack as the best form of defence however I am certain Gareth does not agree

There's not much point using strikers who can run in behind and stretch the lines if we don't have the midfielders who can pick out the run.

It's also hard to justify using Watkins or Toney against a team like Slovenia who defended really deep (and well) and didn't allow any space in behind. The KOs won't be like that as the quality of opposition will go up.

Kane hasn't played well but he is being used badly by Waistcoat, like a number of players.

He is England's best passer of the ball, criminally underrated in fact.

He needs to drop deeper into a proper #10 position, which is basically where he played in his last 2 seasons at Spurs and racked up two dozen assists for Son doing so.

Get him deeper and put real pace (Saka, Gordon and Watkins) in front of him, play Bellingham next to Rice and make their job getting the ball to Kane in space on the turn.

This will mean dropping Foden which for some is unthinkable, but the team has zero balance atm.

I've found all the comments coming out of the England camp to be highly defensive and arrogant. Tone deaf in fact.

Feels like we're never more than a few plastic cups away from a repeat of Rooney's outburst in 2010.

None of these players look good in this England team

Kane scored 44 goals for Bayern last year but looks totally ineffective in this England team. Saka and Rice have just had brilliant seasons for Arsenal, but they both look well out of sorts in this set up. The same can pretty much be said for every player in that team. So it has to come down to the coaching.

That said, I agree given with what we've been served up so far, that Kane is not working in this team. So a much better option would be to play Watkins up top and get some balls in behind. I'd even play Kane a bit deeper and let him put some balls into the forward. That would turn the oppo defence around. If we set up like we have against Holland, they are just going to sit deep until we lose the ball and then hit us on the break.

I thought the last dozen games of the season, Saka was distinctively average, rarely wanting to take a man on, constantly going down looking for fouls, he's carried that over into this tournament. Imo, he shouldn't have started last night , the Denmark game neither. For whatever reason Foden doesn't seem to carry his Citeh performances into England games. Couple of times last night you could see the frustration on his face when there was no one where he wanted to play the ball, I'm sure the once there was a bubble coming out his mouth looking at Kane, saying " If Haaland was playing I know where that ball was going, with you I haven't got a clue where you're going to be"

Disagree about the defence. Guehi has been our best player according to many. I think he’s a liability. His first touch is poor, his positioning is poor and he’s made mistakes in dangerous areas every game. He’s going to cost us at some point.

Agree entirely, he got away with a couple of howlers last night, does those against top class forwards and it's game over.

I think you’ve got Bellingham and Foden the wrong way around, mate. Foden is the one player we’ve got who looks like he’s going to make things happen. Bellingham is bang out of form, at the moment.

I think Rice has been decent, tbf. He seems to be holding us together in the middle. Take him out the team and we are completely ****ed.

Saka has been really poor all tournament. Created absolutely **** all and doesn’t even seem capable of beating his man, now. Palmer done more in his little cameo when he replaced him than Saka has done in almost 3 games. That has to be a change in the next game.

Rice has been okay, but comparing him to his Arsenal performances, he just looks half the player.

Have to agree about Saka, and the comments that Archer's made. He didn't have a good end to the season with us. That is by his own high standards, but there's much more to him than what we're seeing at the moment.

The excuses are hilarious, people have paid a lot of money to travel and get tickets for the crap that the England team are serving up.

Get behind the team though.
Indeed.
Am even hearing people slag off Lineker and Shearer for talking about England being poor and needing to do better, saying its not helping the team and to get behind them.
They are football pundits ffs, it is literally their job to watch, analyse and comment on, football games and give their opinions on the performances put before them.
What are they supposed to do? Sit there with fake smiles saying England are awesome as they fight out a 0-0 draw with Slovenia?
And as for Kane's comments, yes they didnt win anything as players with England, so what? That gives you all a pass to be ****?
****ing idiot.

Sunderland v QPR last game of the season.

Who goes down, who stays up.
