Euro 96, that was a great summer, my dad had bought his first pub, I was 13, and we watched most of the games on a massive screen in his bar.Mine is losing penalties at Euro 1996. Don't remember anything about the actual game though.
First full match I remember watching was the 0-0 in Italy which secured France 98 place. Main memory is Ince covered in blood.
Utd were successful on the pitch though. They built their brand through their tangible worldwide appeal. Far be it for me to come out in defence of them as an Arsenal fan, but as far as I can see it, whilst they benefited from lucrative TV deals etc, they did things without having to break the rules.
City and the Chavs though were just nothing yo yo clubs. They were doing nothing of note on the pitch. Both were suddenly and artificially propelled to the top with an obscene amount of outside money that skewed the whole playing field.
You already know this though. I get it that it’s bantz material.
But thems the facts mate
and HIAG existed because of you....we all create monsters sometimesLol. Don’t think I said the chavs broke the rules, but that bent the rules out of all shape.
FFP exists because of you.
Who are the usual suspects then?... and there you have it in a nutshell - firstly there is no real financial difficulty in the first place and secondly, if there was a points deduction possibly leading to relegation ain't gonna help much, is it?
Like kicking a bloke in the mouth... then beating him up for mumbling ...
should quit calling the measures FFP and rebrand as CLUSO:
Champions
League
Usual
Suspects
Only
So it's okay as long as a rich guy comes in and bails you out?

Didnt FSG bail out Liverpool, who were hours away from administration under the ownership of Hicks and Gillett?Rich guys have always run football clubs- particularly the more successful ones - and with the possible exception of Everton ... nobody is coming in to bail anybody out - they're already here - you must have been sleeping ... sorry to wake you![]()
But if you continually spend more then you can afford at some point there will be consequences and a new rich guy has to turn up and if he doesn't you go bust and that doesn't help the PL brand so they put some rules in place. Seems fair enough to me. Break the rules you get fined and points deducted, suck it up up buttercup.Rich guys have always run football clubs- particularly the more successful ones - and with the possible exception of Everton ... nobody is coming in to bail anybody out - they're already here - you must have been sleeping ... sorry to wake you![]()
Yes came very close. Can't say I know the details but I'm sure it's out there somewhere.Didnt FSG bail out Liverpool, who were hours away from administration under the ownership of Hicks and Gillett?

and?
Football has been corrupt for years throughout the world, England was never ever any exception, I bet many a dodgy deal was done behind closed doors with brown envelopes. FIFA, UEFA, Premier League, all corrupt. 1992 SKY, created a heaven for Man United with broadcasting deals, while little clubs were getting slammed against the wall and no one gave a toss...but City or something, all because it took the trophies off the big boys, that's how life works, karma. I'm sure City's day will come, but until then it makes good bantz for winding up top six teams. I'll look forward to seeing City in L1/L2 in the future, until then people like Sucky and Pinkie can suck it up.
That whole tournament for me was the first one I really followed from start to finish. Had memories of odd games before that, but Italia 90 was definitely the "beginning" of properly following football for me.My first proper full memory of football was watching England beat Cameroon in the quarter finals of Italia 90.
United won nothing, had a pokey ground and were running around begging anyone who had any money, to the point of having some guy do keepie ups on their pitch as some from of weird fundraiser, then somehow had a load of money and bought their success.
FWIW i actually agree with most of thatThe points I've been making have very little to do with my own club - can hardly complain about being one of the top 4 most successful clubs in England during the last decade, can I? ... it's been brilliant...
If we've broken rules fair enough - we pay the price - changes nothing in the preceding paragraph at all ...
However, what I'm fundamentally opposed to is a structure (FFP) that purports to be the custodian of footballing fair-play, health and welfare but, in reality, serves mainly to hamstring genuine sustained challenge to the status quo of the elite clubs that normally occupy the Champions League places come the end of each season... and Spurs.
Who are the usual suspects then?
Liverpool
City
Utd
Chelsea
Arsenal
Spurs got in once
Even Leicester did
Villa this year
Quite a few clubs there.

Stfu up thenI'm not arsed personally.
FWIW i actually agree with most of that
If FFP is to be used it needs to be fair and correct
I would have no objections to a set amount per team
As detailed earlier
I would have no objections to only being able to sign x amount of players out of your area
once those rules are set though I believe they have to be followed
someone tried to explain to Pinkie earlier that Arsenals success is based upon cheating
I agree with that also
I also think Liverpool paid the highest wages to lure players in their pomp
but rules need to be in place to prevent Clubs from taking advantage- you cannot rely on playing within the ethos of the game
even with the two suggestions made at the start - ie everyone having x amount to spend doesn’t work because of geographical issues
ie if you were a London club paying £10,000 per week your players would be getting a lot less for the money because of the area they are residing in
Either way
Whatever I say basically has zero effect on what’s happening so what does it actually matter

Oh right so more than half the league have qualified at some point. I see.Not really mate - the CL spots have been a bit of a monopoly for the top 6 in your list:
23/24 = 3 - Newcastle the exception
22/23 = 4
21/22 = 4
20/21 = 4
19/20 = 4
18/19 = 4
17/18 = 4
16/17 = 3 - Leicester City the exception
15/16 = 4
14/15 = 4
13/14 = 4
12/13 = 4
11/12 = 4
10/11 = 4
09/10 = 4
08/09 = 4
07/08 = 4
06/07 = 4
05/06 = 3 - Everton the exception
04/05 = 4
03/04 = 3 - Newcastle the exception
02/03 = 3 - Newcastle the exception
01/02 = 3 of 3
00/01 = 2 of 3 - Leeds the exception
Sure it has nothing to do with spending![]()
Can't help it now, I got sucked in.Stfu up then![]()
