I think it's clear now what happened. Forest play in red, the VAR assistant saw the colour of the shirts and mistook it for Liverpool giving a penalty away. Which is an auto no pen, under VAR rules.

That's not made up. That's fact. It was there for all to see.

The question is why were there so many fans not getting through at the Liverpool end? Was it organised differently to the Madrid end? Is there a different route in to the stadium? Did the police act differently? Were there too many fans I.e unexpected numbers without tickets which jammed the system up? Did fans breach security which shut down the stadium?

There certainly seemed to be too many fans outside compared to the seats left inside the stadium. There will be the Liverpool perspective, the UEFA perspective but the truth will lie somewhere in the middle.

I was watching the news yesterday morning at the airport in liverpool bcos flights were being delayed/cancelled.

There was a couple there. The bloke had a ticket, his mrs didn't. "I'll get in, I've done it before I'll do it again no problem."

So the reporter says, but where do you plan watching it if you don't? And she replied, "Don't need to worry about it, I'm getting in."

That was one. I imagine there were plenty more. The pepper spray of legit ticket holders and kids was bang out of order but the full facts are more than a simple case of the Paris police being ****s for no reason.

So far it sounds very much like fans without tickets turning up at the ground and police dealing with it poorly.

This is what ****s with my head, I just can't for the life of me, imagine why any Liverpool fan would do that.

Doesn't sound too dissimilar to the Euro final last year where there wasn't enough of a perimeter or checks to prevent those without genuine tickets getting near the ground.

Interesting that Robertson has said he gave a friend a ticket (presumably from the players allocation) which they were told was fake. Definitely some big **** ups when that's happening.

Apparently there were weren't barcode readers at the turnstile and it was just a visual check which seems mental for a game of this magnitude.

I've just looked to see if I can find a clip of it. This was about 8am yesterday.

I agree it's madness. No thought given about the consequences. In a way, it's good that not all those with dodgy tickets got in.

Tbh I reckon the touts saw them coming a mile off. Knew they'd make an earner and sold them duds for £2500 a pop.
