Been watching the L2 football on SKY, thought I'd way up the potential opposition for next season. Currently Salford 2-2 Mansfield, not been too bad, Gary Neville is there watching, being part owner, didn't realise though Mansfield's manager now was Nigel Clough, I'm sure you all know son of Brian Clough.

You are right, Nigel Clough did play for Liverpool, but I appear to have no memory of it.

I liked Brian Clough, another one for the neutrals, to drag a club like Forest into winning the European Cup.

I think it was Forest that were also cheated by match fixing and a bent referee, only to be admitted some decades later. Can't remember who the cheating team were, my brain is saying Athletico, but think that's wrong. Either that or the whole thing was a false memory.

Only gripe I had with Cloughie was spending a £1M on Trevor Francis, which opened the door for silly money transfers, albeit some might argue Clough would never of won the EC without him (Francis).

Anyway going to watch the scum Port Vale play Newport now, hoping the latter wins, but I will probably fall asleep.

i have vague memories of an expletive filled press conference where he referred to "****ing cheating Italian bastards" .

In all honesty, i think the one where Leicester hung on to win it was the best.

The neutrals actually had someone to support and everyones loves a good underdog story.

@FosseFilberto to confirm

Thanks Bob ... at risk of sounding just a tad bias ... Bob is undoubtedly and unequivocally correct <whistle>

Way I would judge it is by the amount of congratulations we received from other team's supporters ... was almost universal and quite overwhelming ... the exception being a few Spurs fans (not surprisingly - let's face it, was the closest they'd got in decades) and there were actually loads of Spurs fans that were magnanimous and gracious too ...<cheers>

PL needs reducing to 18 teams to raise the overall standard.

Just my opinion but there always seems to be one or two teams who are yo yo clubs and never anything else.

If you cut it to 18 but still have 3 going down then the season would retain it's intensity for all those mid table clubs that basically have nothing to play for from February/March onwards.
that was what it was meant to be in the original plan .

Brian Clough has enormous respect amongst Leicester fans ... which sums up how brilliant he was ... got both Derby and Forest promoted to the top tier and on to win the title... what he achieved was phenomenal ... he built those first Derby and Forest sides that won titles on a comparative shoestring compared to the budgets that the 'big clubs' had ...
