They played in it, long before Leicester, so I guess that would be a yes <whistle>
You do also realise you’re trying to take the piss out of a club which sits 9th in English clubs honours list, where do Leicester sit?

Thanks for beating Morecambe for us yesterday mate. <whistle>

They were unbelievably **** yesterday brb, a really disappointing season which is turning out to be one of the worst I can remember. That was our 20th loss of the season. After the new ownership, I expected at least consolidation and some stability <wah>

You also won the fairs cup which from what I read above is the trophy Leicester are trying to win this year.

No I believe the fairs Cup was at the time what West ham are now trying to win

The eufa Cup replaced it... Thats my understanding anyway.

The competition was very different because you go invited, but in 50s newcastle had won the FA Cup more times than any other club.... Sadly they've won **** all since <laugh>

Its a lovely part of the world mate. No regrets at all about moving to it.

I was a teenager so I was looking for young girls drinking pulse and special red at the time and there was none.

The average age was about ten thousand years old.

I'm sure it's lovely when you've grown up.. No offence meant..

None taken mate. I wouldn't say I've grown up though. <laugh>

lol, the fairs cups were more like pre-season friendlies, you came 9th and won nothing in order to qualify, you simply had a trade fair in the city.

As one of only 7 winners of the Premier League ... and now that we've also won the FA Cup, and both of those in my lifetime, that'll do just fine for me <cheers>

I’m one of those fans you are talking about and it’s not arrogance, I have been fortunate a to see my club in Europe.
I still wouldn’t swap it for either stability or promotion.

I think it's based on arrogance because the disdain for smaller trophies all comes from (imo) this bullshit notion that the PL is the 'bEsT lEaGuE iN wOrLd!!" and that playing in it is the be all and end all for clubs.

That's just my opinion though and we obviously differ. Either way though I still don't see why a smaller club like Leicester should be mocked for winning it (should they do so). It'd be a bit like Swansea fans being mocked for celebrating their LC win.

Personally I'd take winning the ECL over any position in the PL other than first and would be delighted to even qualify for it. Each to their own though.

I've been trying to tell the Toon fans this for years cos they claim it as their most recent trophy lol.

It was an invitational tournament ffs. May as well let Arsenal add their Emirates cup wins.

If you look clubs that played and won it in afraid it was at the time a fairly (pun) prestigious competition at the time.

Barcelona, Roma, Leeds, Arsenal, Juventus and Anderlecht.

Newcastle still had to win it and they did.. Like I said earlier newcastle were a successful club until that time having won the fa Cup 3 times in the 50s and the fsurs Cup not long after.

Sadly they've won nothing since and other clubs have gone on and on...

I’m genuinely pleased for you, memories for a lifetime.
But other clubs have been as successful and in some cases more successful. When that’s pointed out, suddenly you add certain timelines which are meaningless and make you look a twat.

Pretty much my thoughts ... there is nothing like winning trophies, be it as modest as the League One title ... but winning the biggest ones and then getting the oppirtunity to play against European 'names' is footballing dreams for all but the plastics who are able to choose 'success'' and that opportunity... and we are only in a European semi because we happened to have a very successful season behind us ...
