I see it more in terms of probability. We are unlikely to be able to build a better squad than Man City or Man Utd in the long run and it is hard enough to stay on terms with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. So the best we can hope for is to have a say one in eight chance of being champions. If that's true we might win it once in the next 8 years. A lot depends on whether the extra income from the new stadium can actually be used to strengthen the squad. Signing two players for more than 50m each is a bit of a lottery. If we can get Salah and Pogba type quality then we will stay in with a chance. If we get Jorginho and Morata equivalents we will likely drop back out of the top four.
That's largely to do with your ownership structure. Joe Lewis is very wealthy but isn't going to put his hand in his pocket to bankroll transfers with a view to winning trophies and attracting lots of glory supporters. I still think he's working towards selling the club once the new stadium has become established as an income producing asset.

Its not a lottery .You just need decent scouts and management. Else why even bother having a scout team

When all is said and done...we will be in the CL next season and one of you or your bezzies, the Goons, if not both will be in the Europa

Again

Wrong guy bro. I don't care about the goonz.

I wouldn't be too hubris about top 4 though, the race is hotting up and you still have both city and pool away as well as being the gooners cup final

I don't think the rules allow him too. Arsenal have the same issue now that they don't get the CL money.
I have no doubt that Lewis is in it for a return on his investment but that's probably true of all the owners. We've had to go a different route from Liverpool, Arsenal, Man U and Chelsea because we drifted so far behind them money wise. We could have chosen the Man City route if we had been given a stadium like they were.

Every club has decent scouts and management but it doesn't stop more than half the signings being below value. To sign a player you need to value him higher than his current club do and higher than all other clubs competing for his signature. It's inevitable that most signings will not achieve value for money.

Lewis has never really invested in transfers, regardless of CL, FFP rules etc.

We were well worse than 20-1 to win anything in Poch's first three years. And building the right things for maximising success in the future can't be measured by trophies won now.

You reckon you were worse than 20/1 to win the league after the year you came 3rd in the 2 horse race? I doubt that very much.

Well that isn't true because in recent times you spudd have had more value for money. Likewise the pool haven't done to bad either whilst transfers at my club have been nonsical and at le arse.

Likewise Bayern are pretty decent and Dortmund are great.

In fact im pretty sure more signings are successful and value for money than not for a club at Dortmund.

In recent times, you could have pushed on but instead chose to go the kroenke route

Correct but I don't think that is a bad choice. Chelsea don't have any protection from a fallow period because they have invested in the squad rather than their infrastructure. So if their squad fails to deliver they have nowhere to go. But Spurs will soon have everything in place for a completely stable future. As far as I can see the new stadium can create close to twice the income of Arsenal's.

Apart from charging the highest ticket prices in what way do you think you are earning double arsenal's revenue <laugh>

Exactly what I think about it. Hope he is wanting to sell because I believe his vision has limits.

Extra income from the new stadium... I get the theory, but when the books are balanced you have a debt almost the size of the debt the Glazers saddled us with, yet you have half of the income, if that. I’m not sure it’s hit home how badly an £800m loan can cripple a club, with some of your fans.

What’s Spurs’ value? Say £900m.

With £800m debt on a new stadium, is Levy/Lewis going to hand over the club for peanuts? No chance they’d want at least 600-700m for the club on top. Then they’d need at least 300-400m on the squad.

Any investor is currently looking at a £2bn investment cost for Spurs... its a non-starter.

Just so as you know, Utd are 13 points behind city and 14 points behind Liverpool <ok>

Three ways. I think we've got a lot more premium seats, there are a lot of expensive dining and drinking options and the two pitches means we can potentially have twice as many events.

I don't think the loan will be anywhere near 800m. It was supposed to be less than 400m when the last accounts were issued but there has been overspend since then. Anyway even if it was 750m, that can probably be financed for 80m a year and the increased income from the new stadium is well over 100m.

I said the long run. Man Utd and Man City are going to have the strongest finances for a long while so should be expected to have the best squads. Obviously it will vary from year to year in terms of exact strength and points gained.

they will want a Billion upwards...i expect if they do sell, it will be once the debt has been paid off...which will take a good few years. i dont really get this ****...when do we start to see the money rolling in to spend on top class players? once its paid off? by then...our best players will be getting older and itchier. I dont see it happening anytime soon if the club is wanting to pay off the debt through Stadium income. For me...we have money because everyone has money with the TV deals etc...its ok to blame the Stadium but ive asked this question before:

if there was no stadium build would Levy have backed Poch with a £100 mill warchest in the last few windows?

Would he ****...only time we had a spending spree was when we sold Bale and there was no stadium holding us back then. ENIC are good at business but limited with football ambition
