We had one disgustingly ruled out because the ref was blatantly from Barry.
Yeah and it can bounce off his arse cheek or left knacker as he tries to get himself between the ball and the goal. Not a deliberate playing of the ball.

Posters wrongly arguing it was offside somehow strengthening their argument by me mentioning the word control as opposed to merely deliberate.

It's just an example. There could be others, but it's easier for me to use Liverpool examples as, well, I tend to watch all their games (and tbf, I did use the Milner example where we benefitted, so it's not just a victim whine). And I personally said all along it was onside, even though I think the rules stink and have given examples why. Oh, and I didn't bring 'control' into the discussion - bogus that mate, and it got called out.
Yeah if it's a bounce it's not deliberate, but if both defender and attacker are heading towards the line and the defender slides and gets a touch then he's deliberately played the ball.

My view on tonight's goal is that he was interfering with play and gained an advantage by being in that position, as if he wasn't the goal wouldn't have happened. My opinion; it's a game of them and there's very few definites in football.
I've also said that there's an issue with scrutinizing each letter of the laws and ignoring common sense, as the laws weren't written to that effect and football's an imperfect game.
I also never mentioned a bounce, that's your word again. I simply agreed with PNP that if a deliberate touch negates offside then that should also apply to a cross where a defender has deliberately blocked it.
