Nah. Saints have always been a bit ****, but the Premier League is scaling new heights of annoying bullshit and mindless hype. Fire cannons anyone?

Might as well declare City the PL league winners now btw. Surprising really, how such an expensively assembled side can be so much better than all the other, not quite so expensively assembled sides.

I'm with Chief - **** football, it's August, the Ashes are still on (that opinion might change if Saints win today. And especially if they win next week. Which they won't).

Var can **** right off btw.

Tbf that's mainly because we're old ****ers now. My son and his age group want more fireworks and he'd love cannons and ****.

It's not football but the world we live in nowadays.

The dominance bit - you could argue that there's always been a totally dominant team. Over my lifetime it was Liverpool, then Utd... now City seem to be that team.

The next generation love the mindless hype and the crazy excess of the PL.

We're just all old miserable bastards...

It's August.

What part of that you not getting?

It feels like last season ended a couple of weeks ago, I've not really missed it.

Is that opinion ok with you?

But yeah, you two crack on telling me what I'm thinking.

You ****ing grumpy old **** <laugh>

I just conducted an experiment, and asked my son what he thought of fire cannon. He shrugged and said, "bit American innit?" So not as cynical as me, but not exactly enthusiastic. Mind you, he's 28. Christ, I am old.

Mate, I've said on here many times that if we went back to being bang average yoyo club, it really wouldn't bother me. Had some great times back then and I hate the win at all cost attitude our owner seems to have. Premier league isn't football anymore, it's theatre.

All the hype definitely grates on me. And it's almost impossible to develop any real affinity for players who, whatever they might say, don't give the slightest **** about the club, the fans or the shirt.

I said at the time of our back to back promotions, that I expected the PL to be a let down after that, and it has been really. The two Koeman seasons were good, I enjoyed our European adventure, and I really like our current manager, but I am falling out of love with the game.

At 28 I'd be slightly concerned if fire cannons got him going. I'm talking about 10 year olds!!! The next generation... your son is this generation

I'm young enough to be your son <whistle>
