No, it's great clinging on to half a chance every week, against sides whose wage bill equals the GDP of Sweden.
Tbf that's mainly because we're old ****ers now. My son and his age group want more fireworks and he'd love cannons and ****. It's not football but the world we live in nowadays. The dominance bit - you could argue that there's always been a totally dominant team. Over my lifetime it was Liverpool, then Utd... now City seem to be that team. The next generation love the mindless hype and the crazy excess of the PL. We're just all old miserable bastards...
I just conducted an experiment, and asked my son what he thought of fire cannon. He shrugged and said, "bit American innit?" So not as cynical as me, but not exactly enthusiastic. Mind you, he's 28. Christ, I am old.
Mate, I've said on here many times that if we went back to being bang average yoyo club, it really wouldn't bother me. Had some great times back then and I hate the win at all cost attitude our owner seems to have. Premier league isn't football anymore, it's theatre.
All the hype definitely grates on me. And it's almost impossible to develop any real affinity for players who, whatever they might say, don't give the slightest **** about the club, the fans or the shirt. I said at the time of our back to back promotions, that I expected the PL to be a let down after that, and it has been really. The two Koeman seasons were good, I enjoyed our European adventure, and I really like our current manager, but I am falling out of love with the game.
No, but I might watch Notts County vs Barnet on BT Sport tonight, and at least I won't have to worry about VAR
At 28 I'd be slightly concerned if fire cannons got him going. I'm talking about 10 year olds!!! The next generation... your son is this generation I'm young enough to be your son
