It's horrible watching what's happened to us the last couple of weeks. Our confidence looks shot, and now we have a trip to the Etihad.

That said, what better game to play next. If we win or even draw there it's a massive victory for us and puts the momentum firmly back in our court.

Lose that one though and I think this title will slip away....again
Interested to see what he does on Wednesday. You’ve probably got enough to get through with a few changes but can he risk that? Or does he take a chance with a much weakened team and the view that it’s all about the league? He’d have to go full strength if the draw didn’t get you through but if I’m him I’m resting a few. You’ve got the squad for it.

Play Gyokeres at City and be direct. Martinelli on the loose balls. Set piece FC etc.

Agree - from a purely logical point of view, you'd rather be in your position than Citehs - it's 'in your hands' ... but your confidence is visibly fragile and you'll be facing an inform confident Citeh roared on by a packed stadium - you can only hope that they too will start to feel the pressure.

Much different level admittedly, but watching my lot at the moment is beyond painful - dominating games but really can't hit a cow's arse - snatching at every chance - so many wayward 'goal attempts' and defending like headless chickens that couldn't keep a clean sheet if doused in Persil ... the opposition scoring isn't just likely - it's inevitable...

First goal in your game is vital...

Ha yeah, why do we do it to ourselves <laugh>

We've got a few injuries atm

Timber
Calafiori
Saka
Odegaard

Eze came back at the weekend. I think Arteta will play a full strength team on weds, I don't think he can afford not to tbh

Agree about being direct at City. They will have loads of the ball anyway, so we need to park the bus and then try and hit them on the break. If we try and play our controlled, possession, slow build up, looking for the killer pass style. They will just soak it up and then punish us.

Hopefully Haaland's rubber face melts off before the weekend.

Nothing wrong with that imo and I'm not saying that just because it's Spurs.

Brobbey's got every right to try and get round the man who's trying to block him off.

The collision was bad, but like they said, the outcome shouldn't determine whether the action was right or wrong.

I know it's a technicality, but it's a fine line between 'shielding' and obstruction ... was brought up (admittedly in the 1800s - according to some) with the concept of 'playing the ball' being apposite in whether foul play is occurring... for me, shielding, particularly when it involves reaching behind to hold a challenging players shirt/shorts is, at the least, a form of obstruction... possibly even more... problem we have, as always, is ambiguity over the actual rules - could do with clarification.

I think if you're in control of the ball and shielding it and you're fouled then it's a foul.

But if you're just trying to block the man off without really having any chance of getting to it yourself (as was the case yesterday) then the attacker has got every right to try and get you out of the way to get to the ball

That’s what I said after watching it back. Romero makes no effort to control the ball, slows down to block/obstruct, Brobbey.

I played as a forward for years and it’s a natural reaction to put your hands up and push the defender out the way to get around him when he’s trying to block your path. Also to protect yourself from going into the back of him.

WBA charged with failing PSR. Could get minor points deduction but unknown whether that would be this season or next.

Completely normal to have that level of uncertainty with 4 games to go lol.

... right back to my point 'no attempt to play the ball' ... obstruction - indirect free kick against the defender ...

Absolutely, I used to play RB and did the same from the opposite side lol.

I used to try and use my strength to hold attackers off, (who were usually little guys) or use my shoulders to push them off balance.

If I was just blocking players off I'd always expect a push or some little ****er to leave one in on my ankles, it's just part of the game for an attacker, he wants to get the ball, the defender does everything he can to not let him have it.

But a 6 point gap will be 3 if City win that game in hand, and then they play us....

Not the case, they play you first and the game in hand is after.

All you have to do is not lose and the gap is still six points. From there, Arsenal really should piss it.

Potential good news for Lesta. West Brom have some dodgy finances of their own which going by the EFL’s rules could mean a points deduction this season. Obviously because it’s the EFL this is happening with three weeks of the season left and will probably be complete carnage if they stay up narrowly.

Yep that was worded wrongly, meant it in terms of ‘and also…’

But yeah, I reckon as long as we don’t lose that game at the etihad, then we should be good.
