You're too focused on Newcastle, but again, the club's that have spent the 'most' have won the most trophies. Actually I believe Newcastle are 9th most successful and have been probably around that in terms of overall spend, so it all once again highlights the charade.
It's interesting to add that when Newcastle last won the title they didn't buy success, that's for sure. Must have cost about 3 pence.
We were a bit ****e even in 1927 tbf, wonder where a similar record would get us in the league these days:
Same as others I imagine, we just managed to turn more draws into wins than the team below. We lost over a quarter of the games, that's unheard of now, ie the winners losing 10 or more games in a 38 game season. The stats from then just make very funny reading.
Yeah I agree we've spent big to be top of the table this season we've bought in...uhm Hold on a minute.... Chiesa, that's the one £12M I think Italian guy and then we bought... Hold on again... Cmon Google FFS must be more than that? I think Google is broken.
Looks like a competitive league without the requirement for financial rules. That's a real title win that.
After the First World War and immediately before the Great Depression. So yeah, if any team was getting bankrolled then, it was clearly by Al Capone.
I think it depends on your definition of impressive I don’t want to get into this rumble as I have made my point to Fosse on this over and over and he has vice versa But if you are having a serious discussion about this then that would be great Leicester cheated plainly and simply - yeah they got around it but the still did They also had no natural predators - teams just sort of let them have games they never faced a side like spurs did that season when they met the chavs - like we did the other night against Everton Leicester just weren’t able to generate that level of determination from another team What Leicester did was brilliant but not the most impressive imho Sides like Utd - who have everyone desperately trying to beat them City doing four in a row Arsenal beating Liverpool to the title winning 2-0 at Anfield They were all more impressive than a season where other teams were in transition and no one could be arsed and some even wanted Leicester to win it. That’s not impressive that’s dumb luck - right place right time That said a win is still a win so can’t knock it too much I do agree that generally as a rule the teams that spend the most will win the most but that happens right through life
They still spent less over decades by hundreds of millions and won the title. That's why it's impressive. The rules etc? A whole other debate mate. I must say though I really appreciate that you acknowledge what my point is.
Most clubs ? Any chance you can share your calculations. There's a long period of time and a large number of clubs that have never won anything that's all. Or are you simply comparing Newcastle with the club's that have spent the most and won the most trophies?
