The really weird thing is how it only became an issue for owners to invest their money into clubs 20 years ago. Was fine for over a century before that. As I was telling Sucky a couple of weeks back though this has nothing to do FFP as a whole or the City case. Only the new rules that were brought in for this season.
Wouldn't count your chickens too early buddy .... .. if Newcastle can find an 'unconnected' party (in business terms) willing to pay that much per corner flag - or willing to say they would ... then you've established a benchmark for a connected party transaction of the same amount ... Sure such things would never get discussed over a very expensive business dinner or conference between loads of execs mind ...
Funny watching Toon fans constantly crying about the clubs they wish to emulate I.e any of the usual top 6 The bitterness due to the fact that they are owned by billionaire Arabs who unfortunately for them and amusingly for the rest of us, have no real interest in turning them into the next Man City, is blatantly obvious and funny as ****
Fun fact, Everton could have folded in the 70’s and we would still have more silverware than them. https://x.com/evertonviews/status/1843306984512291235?s=46&t=GjXW4PhG0s7kgSMl8GkTkw
Hope so, why shouldn't people be able to spend what they want? Wouldn’t happen in any other walk of life/business .
We will see how serious the owners at Newcastle are now. Will they stall on a new ground, pump money into being the Manchester United of the North East etc.
Tbh the football should let clubs spend wtf they want. If fans are happy to watch their teams do what Leeds, Pompey, Coventry etc. and what Chelsea nearly did then that's on them. We've got a ridiculous situation where clubs are twisting and bending the rule and only some are punished. Honestly getting board of all the bollocks.
Yeah it's good that the rules have stopped these things happening. Fans of clubs like Reading and Bury must be delighted.
