Toeing the party line

He had no choice but to followed the rules set by ifab apparently.

The offside shows a toe was offside, technically right decision but doesn’t sit right with me.

The handball was also the correct decision apparently but for me it’s never a penalty as it wasn’t deliberate.

The real issue is the laws of the game, all this technology does is make sure they’re followed forensically.

If he doesn't have the ability to stick by his decision having been called to the screen then what's the point of calling him to the screen????

He defo had a choice.

Yeah, I don’t think the officials in the Var room can overturn his decisions, so he has the choice to **** then off. That would come at a cost to him though, presumably.

Have you ever seen the call to the screen result in the original decision being held?

I have said for a long time now that football is a game played by humans at human speed and should be judged accordingly.
Off-side was meant to stop players "seeking to gain unfair advantage", wearing bigger boots or simply being faster of thought/reaction does not fall into this catagorie in my opinion.
Hand ball again was meant to stop players using thier hand to alter or impede the path of the ball, the ball hitting your hand as you moved/turned/ran does not fall into this either which is why we had the different calls of "hand to ball (handball)" or "ball to hand".
I really believe that the idiots who dream up the rules now have neither watched a game and certainly naver played in one.

Yep in the PL last season. Can't remember the game though. Every pundit on MOTD lauded the ref afterwards. May have been against us, so that's probably why.

The officials in the VAR room didn't over rule the ref, the tech did. If you listened to the American woman after the match you would have heard her explain that certain decisions by the Tec are now considered as final, two of these being off-side and handball.

Everyone would've hailed him a hero. The ppl's champion. The Farage of football. No way PGMOL or whatever The Establishment is would've dared fck with him after that without an international revolt.

Unfortunate but true.
The game is now gone because it's no longer controlled by humans. Goal line tech now decides if a goal is scored or not, Off-side is now defined by a boot size beimg bigger and handball is now called if a ball toutches an arm/hand because these are all measurable facts and human involvement is no longer needed.
Fouls are still left to a ref to determin after umpteen slow motion replays from different angles because they are not as easy to prove by tech.
