Originally there were rules about paying players being illegal, didn't stop the likes of Liverpool doing it though. And City were the big club in Manchester until United got a sugar daddy. Funny how fans who go on about their clubs 'history' forget some of it.
Weren't Everton the biggest club in Liverpool pre Shankly too? I hope none of that Liverpool success was gained using owner investment.
... would they be the same rules that mean only 4 or 5 clubs (already up there amongst the richest) can carry on spending what they like with impunity? ... that'll make football more competitive for sure ... well at least between those 4 or 5
