They are in free fall. It can be difficult enough for a club to get back into the premier league, but the drop from the Championship to league 1 is a really big step down. They could spend a decade bobbing around down there.
They need a complete overhaul and it's hard for them to get rid of a lot of their high earners. I can't see how getting rid of a decent manager that wanted to stay helps them, though. Time will tell, but it seems like another in a long list of poor decisions.
They probably won't be able to change things up too much either unless they miraculously get some of their high earners off the books. Jack Rodwell, even after another relegation wage cut, will still earn around £40k+ a week in League One. ****ing mental.
That’s from his presser on Friday, he’s had no assurances that he’ll still be there next season, hence the reason he was cryptic about it. Fat Sam would have been definitive had he been told he was 100% staying.
They’re over £100m in debt, unless he’s intending writing off the element of that that’s owed to him and fancies chucking a few more £m at the buyer to boot, who’s going to take on a League one club with that hanging over them?
Eastleigh? lol. Fair play to Short if he’s cleared the debt as well, he’s taken a right bath since buying that club ffs.
The ungrateful Everton fans should rejoice that Big Sam is going to be leading them for the foreseeable future. He's their most successful manager since Moyes.
City just denied the most obvious Stone Waller of the season......and he gave a free kick to West Ham for good measure
West Ham’s goal difference taking a pounding here. The scenario of Big Fat Sam relegating them is plausible.
