The wording of the Mason case gives me hope.
Witnesses withdrawing their statements could well be a buy off (or at least thought of as such), the new material the police speak of is more interesting to me (not that they will ever divulge it or haters would accept it).

Tbh I look at cases like this, and I think it would be better to go to trial and be found not guilty than to have the case dropped. There's a couple of prominent cases I can think of e.g. the bloke off Red Dwarf...and that film Witness for the Prosecution.

 

I've not read or heard any of the Greenwood stuff, aside from what I've read on here today, and I soon gauged from the comments here he is dead man walking.

I haven't listened to the audio and simply am not going to. However, I'm yet to meet anyone who has who doesn't say that if it's real then he's a peice of sh!t who needs to go to jail. That obviously isn't happening now but is his footballing ability really enough to justify playing him?

The guy is a fantastic player but sponsors will not want to get behind it I suspect. Will they start reselling his shirts? Will he reappear on FIFA and Football Manager? I don't think he's marketable at all and will cost them money to put on the pitch.

None of this is of Manchester Uniteds making and they don't deserve to be caught up with this. So far they are able to distance themselves from it morally. I think they'll release him in the coming months and he'll go abroad and if that does happen then massive respect to Man Utd as they've been dealt a rubbish hand here from someone who could have been an absolute star.

 

Man Utd have played this correctly. I agree, it shouldn't reflect on them, at all.

However... There's a minority of their fans showing him a great deal of sympathy and coming out with ridiculous excuses for him. They would take him back if it meant winning a title.

If they listened to the tape and imagined that girls voice was their own daughters, they might start to see it for how it is instead of being blinded by their love of MUFC.

 

If that was one of my daughters I'd likely be doing time for my reaction ... but at least it would save the taxpayers an expensive court case ... and he wouldn't be doing it again ... guaranteed

 

I don't agree with you on everything but agree with all of this. I would add though that all clubs have some fans like that, mine absolutely included (and yours btw!). The team they support is irrelevant to me really. With the size of the Manchester United support there'll be a lot of fans like that but most I've seen/ heard are pretty reasonable and rational about this.

 

She's backed down with his say so. That's a terrible mistake imo.

What she should've done is gone to court and given evidence against him.

The defence lawyer takes her evidence apart and she crumbles claiming it was all a lie.

The way they've done it is just amateur and stupid, I want him out the club.

 

Sunderland definitely do. After Johnson walked into court and pleaded guilty they were instantly making excuses. 'She tricked him with her age' etc.

I reacted no differently to them.

I've said the majority of Utd fans are sound with it saying he should **** off. There's some prepared to look the other way, though. That's who I'm talking about.

 

But then she gets jailed and she will be getting it for protecting an abusive ****.
