True but if you get the chance to see it again just watch the way it unfolds, the guy comes running into Benzema who puts his arm up to fend him off and steady himself, the defender actually bounces off him

 

Just seen it again in slomo from a different angle, looks like the defender is trying to get up his arse. No wonder he stuck his arm out

 

Yeh that's true but Benzama's elbow is high.

If he'd just put his arm out as you suggest then the elbow would have been across the chest or shoulders of his opponent. Bottom line is Banzama didn't need to do it and was reacting to the grappling from behind.

Gave the VAR referee a decision to make when he shouldn't have.

 

I agree, if it was against us i would want the fowl given but when you have no skin in the game it's easy to say nah, **** all in that
