I think Frank is probably better off out of it. Like you I can't think why the job would appeal to anyone, so whoever goes there will need to be thick skinned. I think the behaviour of some of their fans is sad, but that's football today I suppose.

Brilliant player, awful manager, no idea how he got the gig in the first place, well their board are a bunch of idiots so that goes a long way to explaining it.

I'd imagine whoever does take it is going to have to do so with half an eye on rebuilding from the Championship, unless they hit jackpot with someone who can go on a run but looking at that squad, I think you genuinely need a miracle to do much with what's there.

I get the disgruntlement from their fans, they're a massive club that's been run horrendously but the stuff after games with players ain't on.

On what basis though? Utd should essentially be a title challenger and at the very least a top four side, you’re currently top four and I swear you’ve spent over £200m on Antony, Martinez, Casemiro and the Dutch LB, plus getting Eriksen in. It’s hardly amazing work to be where you are but he’s doing more or less what’s expected as a minimum. Like Welshie said, it’s hard to do a worse job than Ole, so not doing **** doesn’t necessarily mean he’s doing good.

We finished sixth last year.

Behind City, obviously, but also behind Liverpool, who were the best team in da wuuurld given they played every available match last year or something, Chelsea, an allegedly resurgant Spurs with their awesome new manager, and Arsenal.

So yes, being currently top four level on points with third is a big deal. It's equally a big deal for Newcastle by the way, another manager doing a fine job. The only sticking point is we've not gained any points on Arsenal.

Claiming that Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool are **** takes nothing away from what ten Hag has done, he's completely turned a dead duck around following a succession of joke managers.

If you look back on the BBC pundit predictions pre season, for instance, how many had United top four? One from memory, maybe two. Admittedly most talk ****e but it shows our improvement against what was expected.

So you underperformed last year and are about where you should be this year, having spent (another) small fortune to do so, whilst other clubs expected to be in the mix have been pretty ****.

It's not really a big deal, is it?

Or they are in a false position due to city and and Liverpool and spurs are having a poor season so far.

Back to 6th next year

You don't understand, I get it.

Type of bloke who says Leicester winning the league was a fluke because everyone else was ****.

Wouldn't even say it's a false position, it's just ten Hag doing of what's expected especially considering what they've spent again but because of previous failures it's now a success...

No mate, we're in the correct position because our new manager has improved us to the point we are now better than Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs.

In half a season.

<ok>
We'll see about that bruv
