Still the highest attendance for a L1 Final. I thought Sunderland might beat it, but Wycombe lot were a no show.
Don't worry mate i got your back. Even if Madrid beat you next week you will still have the small half of a quadruple and nobody can take that away from you.
Just seen it was 77k. That’s a crowd, imagine tonight wouldn’t have happened if city hadn’t made it back up that year.
Thats good to know mate, the day when a club wins two cups and its a bad season is the day we should all just give up eh
There is an old article on it, that seem to suggest if City hadn't beaten my lot that day, they would probably have gone under.
My old dears fella is adamant you lot were stitched up by the officials that day too. Something about too much injury time played? I always put it down to bitterness tbh.
It's still claimed to this very day, which is why Gills fans laughed at City getting knocked out the CL this season... https://onefootball.com/en/news/man...ry-of-the-game-that-changed-football-25823807
The thought of any other club hadn't even crossed my mind. That's not how I meant it at all tbh. In fact quite the opposite. I think most clubs fans would be different to City's at the moment if they won the league, bcos they have some connection with their history and all that brings. I think City have a specific set of circumstances which all come together to create a disconnect between their past and present. It's like the older generation had something to shout about when they won their first couple of FA Cups and league titles a decade ago and now it's no longer as important. And the point of my post was only why I think that is. Of course it could just be something as simple as them never having much support lol
Look at all those city fans coppers holding the bus up If they weren't there it'd be back in the garage by now lol
No intention of getting involved in the debate, but for what it's worth, in my head there is no connection between old Man City at their best and new Man City, simply because the latter involved shhite loads of money and a new ground, I think history got a little displaced if that makes sense, unlike anyone else that I can think of, maybe Newcastle next? Suppose Chelsea did in a way, but not to the same extent. So I felt City fans also got displaced of sorts, but they would probably say that's not so.
