Yes I have one of these. I'm there now.
I've noticed that we don't have a thread devoted to general horse information and comments. When we come across something interesting, we've had nowhere to put it. I've even posted stuff on the The "Discuss Anything EXCEPT Horses" Thread, so thought I'd kick one off. I came across a really nice Eclipse Award Winning pic where Golden Derby was being savaged by Great Prospector in 1980.

A few good horseracing images here, Lots 546-625. Click to enlarge:

Some more good images, Pages 32-46:

Trying to get a copy of a lithograph (which I have in a set of 6 from Blenheim Fine Arts) of a painting by Roy Miller of Sea Bird II, Pat Glennon up. My favourite painting, this golden chestnut, absolutely bristling with muscle, wonderful. The image 148 on that last Graham Budd auction collection does not do it justice, and does not seem to be the same as the 52cm x 40cm lithograph hanging in our hallway. Will keep trying to find a true copy of what I have, worth seeing.

Then there are the grubs who leech the life out of the sport. Millionaire Laurie Connell, a man later warned off, owned Rocket Racer, the winner f the 1987 Perth Cup over the 3200 trip. The horse would not be swabbed after the race. It is generally considered that the horse was smashed with elephant juice. One of Connell's other horses returned a positive swab for the substance. The second clip shows how the horse pulled up. Disgusting.

Managed to make a copy of my lithograph of Sea Bird II, and transfer it. Major technical success for this internet dumbass. Hope it does the great horse, and jockey Pat Glennon, justice! Guess you guys can pump it up a bit!

Often wondered about the merits of the champion sprinter The Tetrarch. I knew him to be one of the best of his time, but it was a nice surprise to see that he was considered the best two year old of the twentieth century.

What a load of cobblers. Apparently the 1913 2yos were not much cop and all his races were at 6f. Based on video evidence he was rated 112p by Timerform..

Oh God, Ron, do I have to do another 'feature' like Spion Kop? You keep making me feel sorry for these nags of yesteryear. "The Spotted Wonder" really was a wonder, and hell, Timeform weren't even there, how the hell would they know? Video evidence? Times then were probably very unreliable, I would say? Phil Bull was only 3-years-old in 1913, so was still playing with it and wondering what it was for? No time for horseracing.

My sense of humour is often not appreciated Swan <laugh>

Oh, bloody hell, Ron, not another of these tongue-in-cheek things? You know that's not fair on dumb old me......<doh><laugh>

*Say, did you know that the word 'gullible' does not appear in the Concise Oxford Dictionary? Strange, that? :emoticon-0112-wonde

<laugh> I even put "Timerform" so as not to risk being sued <laugh>

Back to business, hardly like looking at this clip of the 1990 Breeders' Cup Sprint. The great Dayjur was so damned unlucky, still can't believe it to this day:
