That said, I don't see why a lass could not be as good at; batting, wicket keeping (Aside the ladies not being able to catch thing?) or bowling spin.
England's wicketkeeper, Sarah Taylor has razor sharp reactions and has even played one winter for one of the Australian mens' state teams.
Not all about brutal pace, either. I saw Shoaib Akthar live at the Oval in a world cup in full flight, but you can substitute sheer pace for a bit more late swing and control.
I take your points on board GM but have been amazed with the improvement in the girls game in this tournament - and they're not the finished article yet, as they've only had central contracts for a year or two. This tournament will do much to give their game a far wider audience.
I bet there are millions of people glued to their screens in the sub-continenet for Sunday's final Eng vs India <ok>
edit - apologies, that's my last comment on the subject on a football thread.

I’m not getting my hopes up, but could we see a more effective Naismith next season reading today’s offering from PD - “It is very good. I love to learn and I am definitely learning a lot from the manager,” said the Scottish international. The practices we have are very different to ones we have worked under in the past. It is a clean slate for all the boys. We are getting pushed about in different formations and positions, but I feel we have adapted well and everyone is now pushing to be in that starting XI.” - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...-after-3-1-dsc-arminia-bielfeld-win-1-5117786

Also worth a read - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...ctory-against-dsc-arminia-bielefeld-1-5117789

And another worthwhile read, as it highlights DF’s ability to change formation without changing the players and as I’m sure it was Dave who pointed out that the last time we saw that was when PL was our manager!!!! - http://www.norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=498110

So remind me once again why championship clubs want to dine at the 'top table'?
I mean, what is the point, 'level playing field' went out the window years ago - the day Abramovich took over at Chelsea <doh>
