Under Neil Adams he started several games and AN sees him in training and he never reaches any where near the standard he does for NI. Sorry to burst your bubble but he is sub-standard at club level!
Was against San Marino, so nothing to boast about. Would you start him before Jerome or Oliveira? We're scoring plenty of goals this season so could argue we don't need a striker this season, defenders should be the priority. Will admit I would have liked to seen more of Lafferty, but think it's time we should just let him go so he can play regular football.
As Dave says, obviously AN doesn't rate him as a lone striker, otherwise he would have started ahead of Naismith against Brum.
Watching it on the sofa was more exciting - a spider ran across the pitch in the second half and that upped the excitement level 100%.

Hmmm. Looks like Southgate may be having a rethink re Wayne - http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/552111/Gareth-Southgate-axe-Wayne-Rooney-England -Slovenia. Quite a turn around from what he was saying after the game on Saturday
But towards the end he says:- “You’ve got a captain who is desperate to lead on and off the field and continues to make an outstanding contribution to this group of players. “I was very pleased with his performance. I felt the role he was asked to play he fulfilled." Well, I, like many, watched the entire dirge unfold and thought WR was anonymous at best and bloody poor if you want to be harsh on him. Be brave, Southgate, show you've got the bottle to freshen things up against Slovenia, who will be a much sterner test (apart from being one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, if not on the planet! )
That may well be true, but from what I've seen of him recently both for ManUre and England, he needs to be dropped!!!!
Thats not being harsh on him thats offering up the truth. He was so slow on the ball when ever he got it. He is not a midfielder, one day with enough practice he might get the hang of it, but he ain't now and its foolish of any manager to pick him at the moment as he is consistently offering little. Bah!
Looks like we're going down the same route as we did with Beckham...just keep playing him because of his name. Beckham became a complete embarrassment at the end, and games were fabricated for him to beat the games played record which he didn't deserve. Rooney's heading the same direction, he should know himself when its best for the team that he packs it in!
I'm sure he knows that he should have gone already, but that wouldnt really aid his bank account! Bah!
It gets worse, buddy - his son Kai is training at ManUre youth academy, so the current Golden generation can become platinum (or plutonium ) in the future http://metro.co.uk/2016/10/10/wayne-rooneys-son-kai-joins-manchester-uniteds-academy-6182366/
To be fair, he doesn't. All England players donate their international wages to the England Footballers Foundation. Of course he still makes a pretty penny from Man U and all his sponsors, endorsements, etc.
Circa £1m a month in wages, plus endorsements, appearance fees etc. I'd say that was a drop-dead gorgeous penny!!
