This isn't about a simple envy of the rich, nor about preventing people from accumulating any wealth, it is about a fairer distribution of the wealth a society creates amongst the people who create it.
That's the communist ideal. That doesn't work too well either.

If anyone has read The Ragged Trousered Philanthropist you'll know that the author said - if you gathered up all the money in the world and redistributed it evenly, it would take a very short time for it to end up exactly where it was. Those who save will save, those who invest will invest, those who squander will squander.

There's a difference though between handing everyone out money evenly and ensuring everyone pays their fair share of taxes so that that money can be filtered into services which benefit everyone.

Yeh, I was just paraphrasing the book. Nice concept but would never happen, similarly everyone paying their fair share in taxes.

It's self explanatory that people who have made money know how to make more. People who haven't made money, don't. The savvy will always find a way to have more and get more.
