“Anyone believing any extra tax will be only paid by the top 5% and corporations is in for a rude awakening if Labour get in.”

Wonderful.

I said it as well. As have many economists. What McDonnell is trying to do is give the impression that people don’t have to worry as only the top 5% will be asked to pay more income tax and NI. They couldn’t fund their plans anywhere near. So other taxes will go up, and, as we know, taxes on goods and services affect the less well off proportionately more than the well off.

No. Both kids live with their grandparents, who don't work themselves because they're retired. They've literally got nothing.

I'm sure you'd have loved me to say "yes, so what?", but sadly it isn't the case. It's also not a unique case.
And it would hardly be the children’s fault if their parents prioritised their own selfish needs anyway

They don’t have any of those things, not even a TV? Really?

The ones they are trying to attract, yes. As I said previously, part of me wants Corbyn to get in to hear the howls of anguish when reality, like it did in Venezuela, the country which Corbyn thought was a shining example to be like, sets in. Would happen quicker as we don’t have the largest oil reserves in the world like they have,
Does the Labour Party manifesto propose policies similar to those in Venezuela? No it doesn’t. I really think you should treat this thread more seriously and with more respect.

The people earning over £81k will have to pay an extra £1.93 a week. I don't even earn half that and I'd happily pay it if it meant improvements to society.

Have you read the Manfesto? It’s costed. Forigive me if I trust 160 Leading Economists & Economist JM over a pensioner in Brid.

Someone on £110,000, that is over £80,000, would have to pay another £1.93 a week? Really? Obviously you don’t teach economics. In that case where are all these promised billions of extra spending coming from?

What do you mean "not even"? If a TV is a luxury they can't afford, of course they won't have one. I don't teach the children anymore, they're in a different year group now, but I don't recall them mentioning TV. They'd never even been outside of Hull, even to the East Riding.

The grandparents are lovely, honest people, but they literally live off pittance and have two children to look after. They need help, they aren't getting it.

Do you know they don’t have one then? For certain?

Ah, shouldn't have said "over". But the threshold is £1.93 a week at £81k. Presumably it goes up after that.

The promised billions are to be brought in from corporations that currently aren't paying what they should into the system.

Maybe it was how they handled the crash?

Not a great track record ref. the gold reserves sell off fiasco

How should they have handled it?

What went wrong and what should they have done?

What were the external pressures on our economy?

Yes. Better public services, better buses, cheaper trains, a better NHS, a fairer society. They’ll be gutted.

Really? They will simply shift things around.

Like from the Billionaires who own the Leading Rags don’t pay taxes but believe they should have the right to tell others how to vote.

Unfortunately there’s some gullible old fools about.

Strange. She has disappeared from view. Almost as if Labour don’t want people thinking if Labour get in she will be involved in things affecting us.
Several Tories also seem to have disappeared from view too.
