This was the best reply from the left to the right lol https://x.com/stevenKloppLFC2/status/1798113700777541817?t=wD9z4l5XOQShpi-2Olh7Xw&s=19
I just feel the Tories have done all that themselves, they seem to have been on the brink of yet another leadership fight. I think Sunak knew that hence his rush to call an election, there's a good chance he'd have lost. Starmer's pre-debate briefing would've consisted entirely of his advisors playing him this as a warning ...
Dreadful format, you'll never learn anything about policy in 45 second answers. All you get is scripted soundbites which will be clipped and blasted out on socials.
Everything Sunak promised sounded wonderful, no doubt about it ... ... sadly we've heard it all before and people have stopped listening imo. This is all mildly entertaining but, in reality, we all know it's pointless ... Labour will be elected, it's just a matter of the number of seats.
When are the official manifestos published? Seems a bit pointless having these shouting matches without each parties policies laid out
This. That's not even symptomatic of a broken political system, it's symptomatic of a broken society.
Just heard it described as 'a jack russell yapping around the feet of a zombie' I'm guessing it didn't improve after I went to bed.
I really hope the news channels don't subject us to weeks of Farage pulling his one stupid face and infantile 'humour' ... ... all we need is the clown stuck on a zipwire and we have Boris Johnson's twin please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
I personally don’t think any of the parties have your best interested heart. I’m not sure if there’s a political party that I’ve ever known that will do what they say. About the system being outdated and antiquated just wont boycott it. if I thought boycotting would do any good I would do it unfortunately, I don’t
Farage's social media is being ran by nationalist zoomers by the looks of it, let's see how edgy they get over the coming month.
Burke is wrong there, as she frequently is on things. I like Kevin and Perry mind He didn't break the system, he's just the most obvious symptom of it being broken.
Politics, nowadays, is only ever shouting matches mate. Have we had a worthwhile govt in the last 20+ years. It is rinse and repeat rubbish. We are about to embark on another cycle of depressing sound bites and promises that cant and wont be delivered. I tuned in then tuned out last night. Dumb and Dumber sprung to mind. We really need to be able to attract a better type of politician if we are ever going to get the government we deserve.
I meant to add earlier to the bit about proportional representation.... Apart from UK, there is only one other country in Europe that elects its legislature solely by first past the post. That country is the notable democracy of... Belarus. Are we all sure that we are right and everywhere else is wrong? In 2019, the Tories got an 80 seat majority, giving them carte blanche to do what the f**k they like, but only 42% of the electorate voted for them I have voted in 9 general elections - my views have never been represented at Westminster (ok, I could try not living in the South) This time, it's likely that Labour will get an even bigger majority and I'm pretty confident I'll be sick of them quite soon But neither party are going to bring it in because .... turkeys and Christmas
Sunak is supposed to be an intelligent man but he seems to have real 'blind spots' in his rationale. Of all the people he really shouldn't insult the D-Day veterans come top by some distance. Running away from the Normandy beaches, to defend his previous lies, was cowardice laid bare. And to compound the insult, in his mealy mouthed apology, he claims he's sorry if his departure overshadowed the day ... ... what a sad little clown. Just imagine the misfortune to have had him as Prime Minister during WW2, would he have had the courage to order D-Day ... 'keine chance' "This anniversary should be about those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The last thing I want is for the commemorations to be overshadowed by politics. "I care deeply about veterans and have been honoured to represent the UK at a number of events in Portsmouth and France over the past two days and to meet those who fought so bravely. After the conclusion of the British event in Normandy, I returned back to the UK. On reflection, it was a mistake not to stay in France longer - and I apologise."
Honestly its like he is trying to lose voters with some of his decisions, he's not a stupid bloke but think he may be a bit detached from real life. He lives in his own bubble and I think that is a big part of the issue with him.
His apology only compounded the insult ... ... the sheer arrogance to suggest his departure would overshadow the commemorations is astounding. He's not fit to walk in the shadows of those veterans who may never return. It was Sunak's last chance to go as our Prime Minister and he totally blew it. When Biden can be there, from America, it's disgraceful our PM slunk away ... ... I doubt any of his colleagues will be out to defend him today.
