If we were allowed weapons as in USA I'd have a nice shopping list starting with AK47, M16, Ingram mac 10 , heckler koch mp5, to start with :bandit:
Boris and his bosses won't allow that though cos they would live in fear like Brits in certain cities do ! <whistle>
I still have my catapult, sling, and Bow and arrow. .............. well protected.

When I was in the army, the Belgium F. N made an appearance, a damn good weapon,,but I was a lazy sod,
My chosen weapon for the Jungle was the American carbine as it was lightweight and easy to handle. In training in Malaya we still had the old 303, the shortened version, with a flash eliminator like the Bren gun. ..... trouble with the Bren was with a burst, it had a habit of pulling to the right and upwards. .......... in the jungle you did not really need a weapon that needed distance, that's why I chose the semi automatic Carbine, Bloody great.
A mate from Cardiff and myself were. Marksmen, which was not always to our benefit .
I did a little with the Aramalite although heavier the SLR was the staple infantry weapon of my service , hit by one of them and you weren't tempted (nor could get up) , recoil of a horse kick so you had to get it to the shoulder or you knew it . As I left the SA80 was being introduced so never had the opportunity of by all accounts a much improved and versatile infantry weapon ,another you'd remember Victor would have been the sterling SMG , basic but again effective at short range and still in service today. Ah the smell of cordite in the morning <laugh>

As a signaller in the Recce platoon I had one as my personal weapon for awhile , my recollection is that they were/are pretty reliable and accurate helped by having two return springs ? which reduced the recoil (too much recoil lessens accuracy) . if I remember you twisted the cap at the rear to release the springs to start the strip down process, the rats tail was part of the breech block and slide in the SLR.

Pity about the Silkmen. My first visit to the ground I remember there was a posh pub on the corner of the ground that serv3d food and a couple of other smaller pubs on other sides of the ground. The last time I went the posh pub and th3 other ones were gone.....shame that and it seems that the club unfortunately is rotten to the core
