Don't think I can join the brown nosing just yet! But from what i've seen he's been decent.

I'm still in the phase of tensing up, scowling and cussing the man when I see him. But that may eventually change!

The only one I really like out of the main pundits is Shearer - top player and top man, along with Lee Dixon.

Lawro I don't mind - but he actually contributes little.
Hansen - similar. I was very dissapointed he thought the peanlty given against West Brom was legitimate. Although obviously just an opinion.
Lineker - a popular face, but a robot. Never gives his opinion on anything. I'd prefer the Northern Irish chap presenting who is funny and clearly interested in the game.
Redknapp - I like dispite what people say. Has the passion, if not always the most insightful.

To be fair on Lineker, he isn't their to pass comment, he is there to host <ok>

With Shearer, you can guarantee two or three slow motion replies too <ok>
 
There is nothing saying he cannot put forward an opinion though. He backs out of any discussion which annoys me. He's there as an ex-footballer with insight as well - none of which he shows.
 
We have to remember that Neville will always be a manc!

However, it is impressive how he can suppress his own emotions, personal likes and dislikes in order to be as professional as possible as a pundit. Must kill him sometimes to say the things he says <laugh> As a pundit he is there amongst the very best.

The others, Hansen and Lawro, give opinions to show that they are not biased but without very much depth. I do not mind them although Lawro laid back and looking bored style is starting to grate. He gives the impression that he is doing us a massive favour by being there and giving us is opinion. Phil Thomson (Tommo) cannot suppress his bias for Liverpool and his comments are not viewed by most fans as impartial. Redknapp is OK but again does not say anything insightful.

I think it is good to have someone there to just control the flow of things though, I don't think he should get involved as then it could end up going on too long or being one-sided. He is effectively like a chair at a meeting <ok>
 
Yeah you're right in that he is the host.

We might as well have Gabby Logan in then! Lineker is hardly an awe inspiring presenter. He's there as a result of his footballing past.

He is as boring as hell, and in my opinion, is contributing to MOTD being rather dull.

On the fence with this one; he is boring as **** to be fair(presents in the same conservative manner he played) but I agree with others that you do need to have the illusion(and TV is one big illusion) of impartiality and control over the discussions and debates. The only thing that I respect about Lineker is his ability to pull stunners!
 
well lets be frnak the commentary team yesterday never shut up about city winning 3-2... never shut the F up about it like they did it all the time. 2 games spearated by 4 month and two bad performances too boot?

at least when neville talks he doesn't go do rubbish like that..... lets face it being rivals is just fine he loved to play the rival card as a player but he realises to do a good job he's got to leave it behind him.... if he can do that then he'll get lots of cash in that pundit game.

for the record ANYONE on gillette soccer staruday are bascially idiots like chris kamara and are mostly there for abilty to shout and skit each other.
 
I also admire Neville for sharing his disdain for the pansified rules of the modern game which are slowly but surely outlawing tackling. Most other pundits will robotically dismiss certain challenges as 'unacceptable' even if the ball is won.

Been impressed with his punditry and knows what he is talking about. When he joined Sky, most people thought he would be biased towards United but its not been the case and thats suprised quite a few people.

Doubt he will end up as England manager as he doesnt have much coaching experience and Hodgson is not going anywhere for the forseeable future.

Neville was part of Englands coaching team for the Euro's and holds UEFA coaching licences but Neville himself has said recently that he doesnt want to become a manager.

if you want to see bias from him watch his bit about diving on sky sports. Made the point that it is not only foreigners that dive but top english internationals as well.

To make his point he showed steven gerrard (current liverpool player and england captain) diving, frank lampard (regular england international and sometimes captain of england) diving.

when it came to showing a top player from united diving who did he chose - seems rooney would have been the logical choice but he picked beckham (ex man u captain and ex england captain) who hasn't played for united for years

looks like he was afraid to highlight rooney for fear of upsetting his mate or his ex manager

Like a lot on here, I still can't look at him without being repulsed but he has really surprised me with his punditry skills, I am ashamed to admit that I look forward to hearing what he has to say (with my eyes shut of course!)
