Yeah, as long as he's within a certain vicinity, he can bring them back. Like I said, it's never explained properly, and is kept quite vague in the books, maybe someone like Bran can enlighten us at some point.

Hardhome was the first time we actually saw him do it in person if I recall. (God I love that episode)

Give over with that ****ing episode, it's not on Sky and I can't watch it again (must have been pissed first time)

Okay excuse my ignorance, but what are the books and author that tell this tale - it's got to be done.

You mean the original author? That's George RR Martin. Season 7 is the first season that has passed his books, as he's just seemingly stopped writing the next one, which has been due for about 7 years. And there's meant to be another one after that too.

Let me help you then:

A large chunk of season 6 was after the books too. I don't recall the Night King being in the books at all though yet, but I read all but the 5th well before the TV stuff started. The dead just rose apparently. Makes sense there is an attracting force in vicinity though.

Yeah, the two main points about the books compared to the show is that Jon is still dead and Stannis is still alive. Oh, and Lady Stoneheart being a thing (which I'm honestly glad they didn't do in the show, having Beric around instead was a much better choice)

The NK is referred to a lot in the books, but hasn't been present in a scene as of yet.

Alright dumb ****s!

Everyone's favourite show about incest finishes tonight, and will be a long wait for the next season...

All I need to happen is see that **** Little Finger bite the dust and I win £100. Come on Arya and Sansa.

What are you gonna spend the money on?

If you recall at series-eve, I said my bet was LF to end up on the Iron Throne.

Did one of your mates have similar thoughts and put money behind it?

The one thing that keeps me alive (and slowly kills me too), alcohol.

Yep, he thinks Petyr's winning the Game. No chance of that IMO. He was the one who put up the bet, I was surprised.

We made the bet halfway through Season 6, before LF turned 'good' and saved Jon at the BotB.

A couple of seasons ago, LF was a good shout. But he's way out of his depth in the North. And when you have an all-knowing tree psychic who knows all of LF's secrets, and a ****-hot assassin who can disguise themselves as anyone, I think he's ****ed.

I'm proud to say that I've never seen a single episode of Game of Thrones and never will, never seen bleeding Walking dead and Lost either, it's just a soap for fantasists.
