as in pardew saying it? or just the radio guys?

I believe this has already been covered, but Pique? Rossi?

2 examples over the last 20 odd years. I will go out on a limb here, literally, and bet you my right testicle he won't be as good or successful as either of these two!

Heinze, Van Nistellrooy, Ben Foster, Tim Howard

Realistically, SAF sells players when if the money is right/they dont fit his team. (CRonaldo/Tevez) Considering the success they have had under his reign I would argue he definitely knows what he is doing. Brown and Oshea were too old for his team..Obertan wont feature much so why not sell him for a few million. Personally I hope we do get him. Reckon he still has alot of potential at 22.

I hope he's a star and will support him in the black and white regardless of how crap he has been in what I've seen of him before. I just don't know why we are arguing over wages/transfer prices for quality players then spending 3mil on Obertan. We need strikers, badly.

This. I commend you for this comment and wish some of our other supporters would think the same way. Writing off players before they've even arrived is absolutely ridiculous

Primarily he is a forward and was hailed as the next Henry, but has been used on the wing by Man U and Bordeaux because of his pace.

I think if we do get Obertan for 3mil thats a bargain! Especially as. mentioned above, Routledge was sold for 2mil.
I think we all realise by now that Cashley isnt gonna splash out on a big name striker or anyone over like 6/7mil..doesn't fit his current policies. I think Obertan will add some decent quality and depth to the squad and in 3 years probably be sold for 6mil, maybe more. This is more of a case of seizing the opportunity (as we have seen with the steals of Cabaye etc) then him worrying about buying a player to fit that striker role. Despite the fact we desperately need a striker.

Manchester United have a tradition of wingers – are you an out-and-out winger?

I think for now I am a true winger. But maybe in the future I could play forward or striker. I like one-v-one – I’m quick and I like to run in behind defenders and create opportunities.

This was back in 2009 though.

He does seem to have a lot of skill, reminds me a bit of Taraabt with less baggage, just needs the confidence in himself. Under the right manager and with the right team he could be a beast, hopefully that is with us <ok>

Don't know if it's true but Chelsea, Arsenal, AC & Inter were after him....can't be that bad then. Wish people would stop slagging off a player after probably seeing him play once in a cup game or in Europe.

well i cant say i've been overly impressed when i've watched him play, and anyone can look good on youtube (except shola apparently), but if we do sign him as is looking likely, i'll back him all the way and hope he turns into a gem. Mind, his head will always look stupid.

For some reason he reminds me of him....

But yeah i hope people don't get onto his back too soon if he does have a few bad games. Give the guy a chance, he might be another Rossi, Forlan or Pique...probably another Smith or Butt though

Another midfielder? Exactly what we need, nice one Pards <ok>

Because we're traditionally blessed with right sided wingers? Marveaux gets a knock and its Gosling or Taylor. Can play off the striker too, which fills in for Ben Arfa while he's injured.
