IS Obertan actually any good? Or does he just seem a bit naff in a high quality Man Utd team?

    I'm really not sure anymore.

Bit of both. He has great potential, but lacks confidence in a Man U side where he was expected to be the creative spark.

think of Jonas with more pace and more tricks but even more frustrating and you get obertan. hes only 22 though, if we can polish him up a bit he might shine....(ahem...

Could go either way this signing, if he gets to his best some Man U fans were saying he could be incredible, but if he crashes and burns then we'd have a poor version of Gutierrez.

One thing for sure is there's no shame in not being able to get a game ahead of Young, Nani, Valencia, Park and Giggs.

    I've gone with quite chuffed.

Mainly because we need more on the right. Just cause he can't get into the Man U starting 11 does'nt mean he's rubbish. If he's pacey and doesn't crumple like paper on every challenge then I'll be happy. I still think we should put Jonas back there though, give that is where he was when he came to us, RB for Brazil last WC and he is right-footed.

Either way, happy to get more depth. Just need striker now and probably a LB

I'm sure he'll recieve adequate motivation and encouragement from his teammates.

Because if they can't find any injuries in one day they'll have to look even closer to find one, that way he''ll fit in nicely with every other bugger we buy.

what's the story behind Obertan previously having played in a strikers role? (apologies if someone's already covered it, not in a browsing mood today) .. is there potentially some thought that he could act as cover there also?

In fact, as I type, why couldn't he be used up front instead of on the wing, since he really doesn't seem to have a cross within him - but can quite effectivley toe poke the ball over the byline without issue, shift him into the middle and there could be a few accidental goals in him after his skillful, dribbly runs? just a thought .. <ok>
