Part of me think Ober is **** and just another Routledge, but then I see videos like this -

And it makes me think that potentially he's a fantastic player. I can see why Pard's wanted to keep playing him. In this video you see him at full speed, and my good he is so ****ing quick.

I'd personally play him tonight RW.

He just needs confidence and we need to get him beating more men.

He's got great technique and pace, he just needs time.

He could potentially be amazing.

He does have tremendous potential and I think some people forget that he is only 22. I would still like to see him upfront to see what he can do.

I'd prefer him on the wings, better chance of beating people and getting into space. In the middle he'll just be closed down.

He does look decent here, but he was playing against what was essentially a League One level defence.

I always forget how young he is though - younger than me! A lot players don't establish themselves in the first team until 22-23, so he's got time on his side. I think if he stopped running so much and actually thought about what he was going to do, rather than sprinting into a corner, he'd be great; one of the team said he's one of the most skillful players they've ever played with.

Neither can Walcott, they can still play dead balls across the deck though.

Ober has played a few balls into the box that could and maybe should have been put away.

Walcott is used more as a wide striker than a winger though. i'd like to see ober on the left cutting in and trying to shoot, although he may not be able to shoot judging by his crossing.

I've said before that Ober is excellent on the break, when he can beat his man and put in a first time cross. When we have a sutained attack, he is useless as there isn't the space for him to go past soemone and he can't 'pick' a ball.

I'd play HBA on the right, and have Ober as the impact sub whether we're winning or losing.

He has a serious lack of confidence, when gets it back he could look the part certainly but he's not getting games which will only hurt him more.

he can't cross

The video, to me, just encapsulated why Obertan isn't considered good enough by our fanbase. It shows he can't cross at all. He always tries to pass it in the box, and that very very rarely even causes a blip in a defence's problem radar... And let's face it, he hardly looks before he blood passes it. It also showed how guff he is at shooting and skill...

Personally, I have a soft spot for Routledge and am flabbergasted Oberflan has taken his place. Routledge could put in a decent cross, and those who say he can't obviously didn't bother watching while we were in the championship.. Pre-Routledge we were badly lacking widthways... He came and revolutionised our football. True, he never quite hit the dizzy heights in the premier league, but he wasn't anywhere near as dire as bloody Oberflan.

Oberflan has one massive positive over him, and that's strength and speed, in every other way, including dribbling etc Routledge is better. Someone needs to teach this boy to cross it off the floor and shoot!

Also, I hate when youtube videos are used as proof that someone is good or bad at sports. You could compile 3 mins of anyone's best football and they'd look good. That Northern Irish Matty Burrows is better than Messi, if you go by youtube.

It's just confidence, he is so frustrating.

I believe he could be good, but my god will he frustrate the **** out of me whilst trying. :D

I didn't rate Routledge at all when he was here and would rather have ober. But overall i think he is a good sub but not starter he lacks quality and can only really run.

This. Although the potential is there to be a quality winger in the future IMO.
