just got back, and must have gone to a different game. At the game I went to Gabbidon held Davies up, won most of the headers and rarely gave the ball away.

That's fair enough, I just thought that sometimes he was too hesitant and rushed and as a CB that's a big no no. To his credit he did tidy up well at the back
Faurlin, just dont understand why u think hes so good, cant tackle, cant shoot,totally lost today.I think we need a really exp central midfielder.

No, no, no! The "Ram" is not a full back: as much as I love his attitude, he was not really up to it in the Championship and he'd get butchered at this level. But him as a CB, I'd like to see more. Either way, our squad is woefully short of FBs and outstanding CB's.
P.S. Glad my earlier, tentatively positive post on Gabbidon was not isolated praise.
I've obviously written the guy off too quick. I seen the game on the Net but you can only see so much that way. Thanks for setting me straight lads, he obviously wasn't the main culprit today.
Agree with most of the other posters here, Gabbidon was one of our better players today, much to my pleasant surprise.
Those of you slating him are either clueless, went to a different game, or had already made up your mind about him before a ball was kicked.

I thought Gabbidon did pretty well and wasn't helped at all by that ****ing carthorse Hall who somehow made it into the side again.
My concern about Gabbidon is that while his general play is good, he is gaff prone. I saw it in Italy when but for the incompetence of the Italian striker, Gabbidon would have given a totally unnecessary goal away - that sort of thing shakes the confidence of the whole team. Yesterday, Gabbidon's own goal effectively killed off the match, and seeing it on the box, I must say it looked a pretty elementary blunder.
Compare our CB's with Cahill for Bolton who not only looked rock solid at the back all game, but scored a brilliant goal against the run of play...

Opinions always differ but those who think gabbidon was poor must be mad! He was our best defender yesterday.
It was a shocking own-goal at this level though, Bobmid, which effectively killed the game. Alan McDonald would have been proud of that one!
It was a shame swords and you're right, it was a bad mistake. But that can happen to any defenders in that position and doesn't detract from the fact that he looked good for the rest of the game.
We need a decent centre half with prem experience, two decent, quick full backs and cover in the midfield holding position. But, even if funds become available, I'm not sure where these players will come from?
