Thai- have you thought about organising a cup competition between all teams on your site? Of course, it would mean we would end up with multiple Man Utds, Leicesters etc in the same competition but that could be quite amusing in its own right.

You could run it on FA cup or Champions League days, but take it from whichever real-life match is closest to that date (regardless of whether its a cup or league match). You would need some way of avoiding draws- perhaps the manager who's name is closest alphabetically to his team's first scorer wins aet?

Between myself and H Bomb (Cardiff City), we could not see how to make a cup worked alongside the league.
If you can come up with a 'workable' plan of how it could work I would be interested in seeing it <ok>

Rules:
Team with most goals wins fixture.
If scores level, the manager who's name is closest alphabetically to his team's first scorer wins fixture (GK if 0-0).
Ignore replays.

Mechanics: 8 rounds to be held on FA cup dates- 12/11/11. 3/12/11,7/1/12, 28/1/12, 18/02/12, 17/03/12, 14/04/12 and 05/05/12
(1st round to be contested between 184 teams, with 36 recieving byes)
If the real-life team is competing in FA cup that week, FA cup score to count. If not, most recent fixture to count.

There would be occasinal dates when teams compete in both a league and cup fixture simultaneously, but that probably isn't the end of the world!

Totally agree! The idea is a simple one but it must have taken loads of hard work! The fact over 200 people have signed up shows what a great job you've done! Thanks!

The cup idea is just something I thought I wld chuck into the mix- i've got no idea how much extra work it would involve!?

I'd just like to thank you Thai for all the hard work you have obviously put into this. I certainly dont envy the amount of time you've put into making this.

Thank you.

I have not finished yet either!
I am learning HTML code as I go along to try and create better looking pages, styles & layouts etc.
So far I would guess I have put in the region of 120 hours for everything.

Damned good job I have little else to do most days <laugh>

I have no idea either and if I am honest it might be something I am reluctant to do this coming season because of the amount of time the leagues are going to take to update every week.

Maybe you (or anyone else) could run a trial on here of some kind and run it along side the league?
You can then use league results for all cup matches etc

I do not think it would be hard to do for just 1 cup competition on one board and I would be happy to host it on my website unless you wanted to keep it on here <ok>

Following Rubik's suggestion of running a cup competition alongside the fun league I have been doing a little thinking.

I can run one on here as a trial for this coming season..................Yes, I do have too much time on my hands <laugh>

I will try to make it a fairly big competition so it goes on for a few months and then maybe run another one later

What I would like to do is................

Invite you to select 4 teams - 1 from each of the 4 leagues in England
Please select them in order of their respective league
i.e - PL, Championship, L1, L2 - IN THAT ORDER

By doing it this way I am hoping we will use up 64 teams! To do that I need 16 people.

Goals are scored the same way as in the fun league on selected dates <ok>
Fixtures will generated by and external fixture generator, http://www.daftlogic.com/projects-cup-fixture-generator.htm not by myself.

Fixtures & Results will be available here http://thaicanarycupfootball.weebly.com/index.html

I will get the ball rolling by selecting my 4 teams
