But that doesn't make the old stuff a lie, it just replaces the knowledge you had with what's correct and that's absolutely fine.

"Experts" are ten a penny, actual experts are the ones you want to listen to, the people at the top of their field, the ones with certified backgrounds in their area of study.

Take Covid. Nobody, not even the media, took it seriously until it started killing people very quickly. There were a lot of scientists warning that this was incredibly dangerous. At that point, opinion should not have been split, nobody should have been calling it "the flu" and nobody should have been calling it a hoax. There should have been people taking that warning seriously. Instead, we've seen nearly 4,800,000 people die worldwide and many more suffer life changing side effects.

Was there a lot of scientific knowledge about Covid 19 in November 2019? No, there was not, but there very quickly was data and warnings were put out by people who knew what they were talking about, which were promptly ignored by non-scientific people who thought they knew better.

Now we have it with climate change. There is undeniable proof that human influence on climate change is real, yet there are still major celebrities and politicians who say it's all false. That shouldn't be happening, there shouldn't be a window for a scientific fact to go from the objective to the subjective, especially given the dangers the threat poses.

As I said - it's not easy to verify things (and get everyone onside).

"...not even the media..." Just another SARS miles away? Amazing how quickly a vaccine was developed nontheless.

"Now we have it with climate change."
There have been deniers for at least 15 years, maybe even 25. Minimal number of scientists in that camp.
The media reported celebs & a few politicians who were angling for a Warhol 15 minutes of fame. Sickening.
Just shows how gullible the populous are for the mainstream media to quote those ilks.

Some people just look for a supposed expert whose views coincide with their views and use this as proof that they are right and the other people and experts with a different point of view are wrong.

When looking at 'experts' commenting on a topic, it's usually worth checking what they're actually an expert in. Likewise, when claiming a 'consensus' it's often worth checking what they're actually agreeing with, as often, even official reports misrepresent those things.

Want to know how many overseas truck drivers applied for the visa to come and work in the UK? 5000 were on offer and so far they got 127 applications.

But it doesn't matter anyway because all the panic buyers have filled their cars and a few jerry cans just in case, so fuel sales will go back down to normal levels, in fact sales will be less now that all the idiots have bought more than they need so they could sack some of the tanker drivers.

It's actually 27 of 300 visas available (and they were specifically aimed at tanker drivers).

The other 4,700 haven't been made available yet, they're still arguing about how long to allow them to last.

A so-called expert reporting on the gas price "crisis" calls a BTU a "British Thermal User".
    Hilarious...

Well, hence the song, do they know it's Christmas time at all?

I can't imagine too many of them celebrate Christmas, so no, Midge Ure, they probably don't know at all.

The people of countries supported by the charitable donations of British Citizens certainly do feel the effects of Christmas, good and bad.
Charities target the Christmas period for donations and some have been unable to fund projects since spring 2020 so any disruption in the UK will impact on them.

The only News Paper I trust is the Daily Star. They've never printed a made up story.

Their headline today shows that you lot have got more to worry about than a few shortages!

ET is about to go Medieval on your Asses....

Let’s hope the Aliens get a bigger storyline this year, last year, they got a bit, but their story arc never really got going.
