Couple of interesting 2yo races up at Doncaster
14.25 has the Queen's Dubawi filly on offer at 9/1 by Bet365 but as low as 11/2 with 3 bookies. Golden Horn has 3 running for him. Gold Wand is the current fav but the other 2, Domino Darling and Lady G have nice pedigrees too

15.00 2 more Golden Horn reps in the "non fillies'"race. Nova Roma and Thumur both nice pedigrees but a bit concerning that the latter has already had a wind op. The former has a Derby entry. Amongst the opposition is the Shamardal colt Magnetised and the Frankel newcomer Born A King. I see the 4 head up the betting as I type with the Gosden Derby entry the fav

And in the 15.35, what has happened to Gunmetal. He's run some cracking races (albeit unplaced) at a much higher level. Surely he has to win sometime, doesn't he? Currently 16/1

I have been keeping an on Gunmetal for a while Ron. He s ran ok at times but it's just not happened for him. Don't think the ground has been in his favour too but his mark is becoming attractive. If the ground was good at worst tomorrow I would be tempted to back him. If soft or worse I wouldn't bother..

The Queen's Dubawi filly, Approximate, was stated as being trained by Stoute. Suddenly in September he's switched to Bell. Doesn't fill me with Great Expectations, but maybe Bell will work the oracle. His runners weren't impressive yesterday at Newmarket though.

Stoute is very patient with his young horses so maybe he was opposed to running this filly this season, or maybe she didn't appear to be developing into the 3yo he was hoping for. Either way it doesn't sound too promising

I heard Davey Russell and MoL had another falling out and he wasnt riding for Gtown today. Davey to good for that crowd anyway, great jockey and a gent as well.

The way Whoshotthesheriff quickened up at the stiff Carlisle was impressive.Could be a smart horse for connections this season. Kirby's horses running well now.

Some Cheltenham thoughts .............

Looking at the opening Ballymore Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham this seems to be a case of exposed horses (mainly summer jumpers looking for one last payday before the ground goes) against two totally unexposed types in Guy and L'Air Du Vent. Either would have to be pretty decent to take this on hurdles debut but I'm pretty sure their hugely experienced trainers wouldn't be putting them in here if they didn't think they were capable. I found L'Air Du Vent's bumper win most impressive and will take him to bring home the bacon today.

The 2 mile novices chase looks like developing into a match between Al Dancer and Getwaway Trump, particularly with the prolific Caius Marcius carrying a double penalty. I don't share the market's current view and I think Getaway Trump could be the one. A fascinating little contest.

The 3 mile novices chase looks to have more depth with a stern challenger from across the Irish sea in the shape of Gordon Elliot's Dinons. He romped to victory on this card last year and has valuable chasing experience under his belt, but he does have to concede weight to some useful looking rivals. Chief among these is Wholestone, who won on chase debut at Ayr despite jumping left BUT might find the ground lively enough today, despite the forecast light rain. If all eight go to post then Minella Warrior might be a bit of e/w value.

The maiden hurdle looks a fascinating contest with Master Debonair finally making his hurdles debut after being held back for the champion bumper last season. He was disappointing at both Cheltenham and Aintree however and I can't have him at such cramped odds today. The talking horse is Lieutenant Henderson's Fred, with 3 placed efforts in France to his name. That form has not really been tested and came of very soft / heavy ground so I am a little wary given the current going. Cap Du Mathan comes to this off a long break and would need to have improved on his last run (a 2L defeat by Arverne, who showed little in the Grade 1 Juvenile Hurdle at Chepstow won by Quel Destin). An honourable mention goes to Stolen Silver, who has joined the Twister from Sam Thomas and should go well on stable debut. But my idea of the winner is the dual bumper winning mare Getariver from Dan Skelton's yard. The form of her second bumper win (under a penalty) has been well advertised by the 4th Henrietta Bell, who has since romped home off 120 in a mares handicap hurdle before hating the firm ground last time.

Good luck everyone <ok>

Just picked this up from the Greatrex stable tour on the Sporting Life website - could go well today at a price

MULCAHYS HILL

I think his good novice hurdling campaign left a mark on him last season but he’s come back in a different horse. He had a couple of good runs over fences last year but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him leave that form behind this time around. He’s a second-season novice and could start out at Cheltenham on Friday.

I will go for the FOB first and last double too. Although I thought last years winner for the good doctor was very eyecatching in the last.

Attached is a picture of Benny from this mornings stable visit (if only it would upload) it’ll be on my twitter

Cheltenham picks
2:00 - Lair du Vent @ 7/2
2:35 - Getaway Trump @ 13/8
3:10 - Duke Street @ 8/1
3:45 - Dinons @ 5/2
4:20 - Cap Du Mathan @ 7/1
4:55 - The Wicket Chicken @ 10/1
5:30 - Bennys Bridge @ 3/1

No bets, just for fun...<ok> <cheers>

Tiny stakes e/w Lucky 31 at biggish prices for interest at Chelt with current best prices via Oddschecker

2pm No Hidden Charges 28/1 (at least he knows how to win races)
310pm Breaking The Waves 8/1 ( finished 3rd at Chelt this time last year, always like to see some Chelt course form)
3:45pm Mulcahys Hill 10/1 (Have followed these silks via Keepers Hill)
420pm Stolen Silver 22/1 ( first 2 in market very short, has only 2 runs, seemed to improve and could have improved more, who knows, price is attractive)
4:55pm Mr Mafia 16/1 (Had him in my tracker from the summer, won some races impressively but a massive step up today, drifting as well which is very bad news, but I'll be sickened if I don't back him and he at least places)

Good luck all.
