    3.35 Newbury - Blue De Vega- 10/1

Been abit of a cliff horse for me this year but his 3rd in the sprint trophy at Musselburgh on ground that wouldn’t have suited him was a massive step forward. It showed he still retains his ability when placed in the Irish guineas. And the fact they have kept sprinting tells you something. Hasn’t raced on officially good turf ground for more then 2years - I know the ground is soft at Newbury but can’t see it not having the word good in the description come tomorrow. They are keeping the cheekpieces on again which as I say worked lto. The yard won this last year and Robert cowell specialises in sprinters. With quite a few front runners the pace should be fast enough for him to pick up and get up on the final strides to finally win!

I would fancy the two horses beginning with the letter "I" but what do I know :)

Don’t forget, team, that it’s the Lieutenant’s bumper at Ayr of the morrow. Given his record in the event since 2010 I’m surprised a statue hasn’t already been erected at the course.

Meanwhile, old boy Arsene to leave The Arsenal at the end of the term.

Now, now, old boy. No need for that. Arsene has over the past 20+ years proved to be the greatest manager in English football history. It will be a sad day when he goes but I do think that his reign has reached its natural conclusion now.

Tom Tuchel the fave to be The Arsenal’s next manager. I wonder if the Board will go for a ‘rookie’ though and look at an ex-player the likes of Sir Patrick, Mikel Arteta, DB or maybe even old boy Per. I do think the manager after the next incumbent is likely, incidentally, to be either Mikel Arteta or old boy Per.

Newbury 1.50 Woolstonbury 20/1, and Bath 5.10 Tin Hat 12/1. Both rated by their stables, both pulled from a better 2-Y-O race last week, and worth e/w singles and double.

    U/p and 2nd 9/1 respectively.

Someone whose name can be prefixed with "Big" I would think. That was the whole problem with Wenger - "Big Arsene" just doesn't work.

‘Big’ Stevie Bould! I wonder what will happen to him now incidentally. My actual football knowledge isn’t great but I do work with a chap who does know everything Arsenal and he swears that Stevie is on more than the England manager - £1.6 million a year compared to £1.5. Although the latter can more than double this in bonuses if England do well – so he’ll earn £1.5 million then. Boom, boom!

My pick would be Sir Patrick or alternatively old boy Carlo to provide a steady hand for a couple of years.

Oddschecker showing support for Brendan Rogers who has now gone fave in several books. Wouldn't be a bad appointment in my opinion. Currently he has the 2nd best job in football and the best (The Arsenal hotseat) would, I suppose, be a natural progression.

Bad news for the guy that sells the “Wenger Out” placards at the Emirates. When I see my Spurs fan friend later in the pub, he will have been drowning his sorrows – they wanted Wenger to stay indefinitely.

I recall reading a few weeks ago that Luis Enrique (formerly of Barcelona) had been contacted about a move to North London but was dithering in case the Chelsea job came up during the summer (rumour has it that Conte will be fired or be going for the Italian Job <laugh>).
