There are plenty of other threads, including a few on the very topic they want to post on. The issue is more about the silly personal, bigoted vendettas that you're seeing being played out again on this thread.
Have a look at it, it's typical of what was going on on the other thread, yet people still reckoned they really wanted to discuss politics. I'd suggest their true motives are crystal clear, just from these recent exchanges.

Having a politics thread on this part of the forum is a recipe for disaster with regards to abuse. Politics is the most controversial subject on the planet with views at completely different ends of the spectrum and this is the most (or one of the most) controversial boards on the forum. To then expect people on this board, not to be abusive on a massively controversial thread, is quite possibly the most naive thing possible with regards to forum posting.

Like I just said to Dunc, having a politics thread on this part of the forum is just asking for trouble. Left and Right will never agree and seeing as we're in a section of the forum where abuse is rife, they'll end up ripping one another a new one. If you/ Pete/ anyone else don't want the politics thread to be abusive, the easiest thing really is to just take it to another board where there's less aggression. It's completely naive to think that people will remain reasonable on this section of the board.

This bit's not that bad, it's more like a sixth form reunion, and you seem to be ignoring the bits I've posted about the hows and why's, and that it's not just the abuse, but other issues at play.
I believe there is a politics thread on the Hull board but they don’t contribute to it. Saxton has certainly been sacked off by the other Hull posters. A few commented that they objected to his racist comments on the politics threads. One thought his account had been hijacked as the filth he came out with was so extreme. He was told that he wasn’t to post that kind of **** on the Hull board so he doesn’t post on the Hull board.
