True!

Personally, I find the term 'mackem' offensive too. Never heard it when I was growing up so don't relate to it at all.

Mind, a grown man having an avatar of a woman dressed as a schoolboy might also offend some - :emoticon-0105-wink:
And my favourite band growing up was AC/DC with a lead guitarist dressed as a schoolboy.....probably says something about me!

Well I think we can finally put the Dell rumours to bed now. And I’d like to place on record my thanks to Donald, Methven, Sartori and their management team at Sunderland for the exemplary way they have led our great club and taken it to the level it now finds itself at. Take a bow gentlemen, you should feel proud of yourselves.

I am sure that Smug got his information from connections to Glenn Furhman (apologies if I am wrong @Smug in Boots) and Furhman left MSD in February to set up his own investment company.
I may be a glutton for punishment but I still cling to the hope that Furhman is the driving force behind the takeover/investment at SAFC and nothing much has changed with this news.

Correct Dell and FPP are not the same group. One of FPP is named as a director of MSD but that is not the same group as FPP.

Yes, that's right mate. It was Furhman who Smug mentioned. This article says that only Platek is involved in MSD UK Holdings. This probably confirms why the UK Company that was initially interested in us was wound up. Fuhrman is rich enough to be able to handle us on his own, or with other high profile associates. I, like you, are not discounting him just yet.

Furhman has split with Piatek and Phelan, but it is a terrible sign if 2/3 of them have moved on to something that would make it nigh on impossible to take us over. I think this probably is the nail in the coffin, albeit there will always be a slim hope until the loan agreement ends that Furhman disagrees with their assessment.

I've had a look through the charge sheet quickly - they are pretty similar to us in the headline terms. They've loaned them money with an option to convert the debt into equity, or take over on default.

So basically, they're either loaning money on commercial terms to clubs now as GOM suggests (which a lot of people have spent the last year telling us that FPP don't do) or they were interested in us but have at best made a bigger play for Southampton on the same flexible terms that allow them a full range of ownership options with no liability if the club or football falls into decline.

Like I've said before, there is plenty of evidence that this is their preferred way to do business - this is a good illustration of why we should be careful about blaming Donald for FPP not being in charge, because there's another indication that this is how they wanted to do it.

That's right mate, a close friend, Ben Brown, who's a millionaire art dealer. He asked me to look after his estate but Mrs Smug didn't like his wife.

The WhatsApp message from Fuhrman said he'd bought Sunderland.

I've no idea what that means under the present circumstances tbh ...

... I've had my fingers crossed so long Mrs Smug has to butter my toast.

That line in bold is enough to give me a semi on just hoping & praying.
