It was Fuhrman and he obviously believed it at the time.

He was speaking to a close friend who replied and congratulated him.

If you choose to believe Fuhrman was deliberately lying that's your affair.

Well he was factually incorrect, that's the absolute best case. I think it's more likely it was a joke based on the 'done deal' patter emanating from the press.

Could it possibly be that at the time Furhman thought he had bought SAFC? Do business purchase contracts have cooling off periods? genuine question as i don't know.

If so then maybe something came up during the cooling off period and one of the parties changed their mind.

No, it's not distance selling. Lawyers are there to flag it before you do any deals like this, after you sign, you can use warranties to go after a seller that you believe misrepresented something, but he wouldn't sign any deal without it being done.

Like I say, probably more an in-joke about the exaggerated nature of the deal.

Lads, if we learned one thing last time, it was that if it were FPP, we'd be the last to know anything concrete.

I think I was on about page 300 or something of the last takeover thread on here before and my god, I'm surprised some lads made it through the night when Nixon's story broke.
