he said himself that he didn't know if the new owners wanted him or not, so it must have been a majority stake in the first place. The latter is exactly as Oor Wullie has just said, imagine having that in the palm of your hands and blowing it. Id want to blame someone/something else, especially if I still had to run the bloody thing. Look I doubt anyone anytime soon is going to know the full truth, but I am treating is as a "Civil" case, it is the balance of probability rather than beyond reasonable doubt, that SD and his bullshitting mate have somehow manage to **** this up.

  2. CM introduces FPP to SD and they agree a price for the sale, subject to due diligence.....normal business practice.
Following dd,FPP offer a price which is acceptable to SD,subject to the club being in the Championship, which is a distinct possibility at the time.Deal scheduled to complete as soon as promotion is certain. Everybody happy.
Matters on the pitch go sour, SD replaces JR with PP....deal still on. FPP,knowing the situation, and that SD does not have bottomless pockets, agree to advance £10m or so to ensure promotion does not fail from lack of funds...to be deducted from sale price,as and when. SD very happy with that.
Things are going ok.....a good run on the pitch, but it stalls and promotion does not look as promising as it once did, maybe play-off lottery, therefore some clauses in the deal come into play, one of which is that SD is able to look for an alternative buyer, bearing in mind that if he finds one,the £10m becomes a loan which must be repaid before any sale to a third party.
Covid-19 then intervenes.....everyone in limbo. Financial implications weighing on everyone.
    Position now:
SD desperate to sell, and talking to anyone who looks able to complete deal. FPP still willing to buy a Championship Sunderland at agreed price, and willing to wait, at least for the moment.
Pick holes in that, you lot! :emoticon-0105-wink:

Be amazing if our club could be done as a fan takeover.

We are just too big for that, but for clubs like us and Newcastle, if it could be funded, that would be amazing.

    Very difficult clubs to understand.

  9. I said I was known for them.......not for getting them right!! :emoticon-0102-bigsm
    But...here goes....!
FPP know the potential of owning our club,on the pitch and off, if it is run by excellent management, which is their stock in trade.
They will wait,if necessary ready to pay SD a reduced price to reflect a third division club, and put their own people in to get promotion asap. I would doubt they would want SD to stay on.Tufty as DoF?
SD will be unable to find a buyer, and will look to sell to FPP, at an adjusted price, once the virus effect is quantified. He will have to take a much smaller profit on the deal than he had imagined, but will rather have something than nothing, given that his gamble has just not paid off......not all of it his fault.
He'll learn from it,move on and take this experience somewhere else.
    How's that?

Yeah but he lies when it suits him, this would seem to be a lie that nobody with even half a brain cell would make. In the end he doesn't need us onside, but he does need FPP. So I just can't see why he would say they didn't do something if they did.

    Fair.

Like I say, I don't see that being the case but who cares, just my opinion.

Yeah - he wouldn't lie about FPP, especially as they are still involved. He may put his own special slant on things, but would not lie as FPP could swat him down in a single statement. They have not done so and have not denied still being involved.

That would be the absolute dream for me, but you'd never be able to kick start it. You'd need someone willing to spend big on it and then give it away.

he may well think he’s doesn’t need the fans onside but as we have seen since the dark ages once the fans turn there is no way back, I would say he naively Thinks he can ride it out ala Mike Ashley, unfortunately MA isn’t a media whore like Donald et al and is thick skinned, we have already seen how flaked he is when the fans told him to sell up

Hopefully it’s FPP who are in the best position to take us over but I do worry that SD will just sell us to anyone now

You’d still need a close to billionaire at the top sadly, and that kills it.

I think this is the case, we dinosaur Parkinson alongside the calamity crew in senior positions I have zero faith in getting promotion next season.
The football when he arrived was awful, he stumbled across a tactic which worked until teams worked it out then it went back to being clueless.
The club is broken from top to bottom. And from the outside the torches are being lit to storm the castle

I've spent a lot of time wondering how you'd go about doing it on the basis of something like myfootballclub.co.uk who used to own Ebbsfleet. But it just wouldn't work for a club of our size. Very few people would be able to afford the initial stake that would be required. I think you'd need a completely different ownership/operating model to anything that exists anywhere in world football to make it work. Perhaps something like Hashtag Utd crossed with Barcelona.

    This I totally agree with.

My one hope is that he is aggressive with the FPP money. The longer it sits there (and of course, the closer it gets towards him needing to pay some of it back) the less likely he'll be to gamble it. That means the last realistic chance of him going all out is this summer/autumn.

In typical Sunderland fashion, he stumbled across that winning tactic when we had SD against the ropes. It has now bought him some time and even had that deluded twat thinking he was wanted again
