Believe what though? It's not a binary question, FPP haven't taken us over, they have a convertible loan in place, which is different but may one day lead to the same thing. But it's still a 'may'. Until they convert that loan, Donald can sell us to whoever he chooses by simply paying back the loan. It's still complex.

How long does Donald have to repay, you dont know that. If he doesnt, do FPP have control?

I don't know how long he has to pay, but I'll be willing to bet an awful lot of money that it's longer than 3 months from the date of getting the loan... I think based on what he let slip in his first interview, that it would be around 18 months before some or all of it was due. That's when I'd expect FPP to make a decision about us if we weren't promoted, ie: May of next year. That makes sense because it would also be 1.5 seasons for Donald to achieve promotion.

If Donald doesn't pay it back then, FPP can take control of the club via the charge, yes, but that scenario is right now so far removed from play that it means very little at the moment. In fact, unless Donald actually starts spending the money, it's also moot because he can just chuck the cash back to them.

Assuming he can afford the early repayment charges and interest accrued since receiving the loan in the first place. ;)

Being realistic, there will be no deal this season. If it looks like SAFC are going up, SD would be mad to sell at the current bid. If it looks like they won’t, FPP would be mad to raise their offer. The key is where they are at the end of the season - that defines the price of any deal.

Any news on this? I’m as hopeful as ever but I get the impression nothing is going to happen until he either lowers the price or we get promoted

I'm very happy the way things are. I really want to know what any new owners intentions are before they have my support.

This completely. Being a billionaire doesn't automatically make you a good football club owner.

True, but a millionaire who strips the club down to the bone, and spends all he wants to spend on one failed player, doesn't make a good owner of a club the size of safc. I don't mind if SD stays on as chairman, but he clearly doesn't have the funds to get us anywhere further than the bottom of the Championship.

No one is saying that Stewart Donald is a great owner although the criticism that he receives is generally over the top. No matter who is owner, sound business sense is what we need because putting the club in a position to generate it's own money is the key to success. Personal wealth is no guarantee of a generous owner.
